"He was very nice and I am looking forward to working with him in the future as I go on my weight loss journey. I met him at his support group meeting for pre and post op folks. I attended three of these meetings while I was still living in Dallas about a year ago. Now I am finally scheduled for 2-13-02 and I am very excited to start my new life on "the other side". His staff was very nice and helpful and worked quickly to give me a surgery date when I went in for the consult. I can't think of anything I least like about Dr. Provost, but I guess I should hold off on that until after the surgery!?..
He emphasized aftercare more than anything else. He made sure I understand that this is a lifetime commitment and I can't just do it "whenever I feel like it" or I will die! I am ready to make this commitment and am looking forward to my pre op appointment on February 7 at Parkland. I will be attending his support group once a month and going to support group meetings in my area in between. All of the risks of surgery were addressed during my consult. I would rate him a 10. As far as surgical competence vs. bedside manner, I would go for surgical competence any day. But again, I will have to wait till after 2-13 to address that."
