Like everyone else that has come to this website I am a big guy. I have always been big. Earlier in my life I was a blue collar worker in a factory and got sick and ended up disabled. I was on disability for 4 1/2 years until I was able to reinvent myself to work in my current career as a software developer. It is a blessing that I was able to switch to a career sitting at a desk, there is no way I would be ablut to do the type of work I did in the factory. As I have traveled through life I have struggled with trying to lose weight. But I haven't ever been able to take off a substantial amount of weight for any length of time.
I have a wonderful wife and we have been married for 31 years. We have three children, all are grown, but two are still in college. I have a granddaughter that is 9 years old and is the sweetest person in the world. And of course we have a dog that everyone loves even though he is spoiled and whines a lot. It's hard not to love a Bassett Hound.
I have always rejected the thought of having gastric bypass surgery. I was uneducated about it. As I grow older carrying around an extra 175 pounds is getting tougher every year. So I did some research and educated myself. I sheepishly asked my doctor if he thought gastric bypass would be an okay thing to do. His response was that he highly reccommended it for me. So the journey begins.
