Hi Everyone. My name is Andrea and I am 24 years old. I've struggled with weight all my life. All throughout my life I was involved in sports and activities. I was on my junior varsity soccer team and trained 6 days a week 3 hours a day. At the same time I joined Weight Watchers but somehow I was still at least 30 pounds overweight. It was really discouraging. After highschool I went away to college. Being a full time student and working full time didn't leave much room for being as active as I would have liked to been. I graduated last year and started my new job in November. The new thrill of going out to business lunches and events really got the best of me. I regret to say I ate my way to being 325 pounds. I am unhealthy and unhappy.
I decided to have a gastric bypass surgery. With the help of this website and testimonies of a few acquaintences I attended an informational seminar hosted by my future surgeon, Dr. Arif Ahmad on May 29th. He explained how he does the procedure and the risks and benefits associated with it. He also introduced us to his staff, most of which had weight loss procedure with Dr. Ahmad. His staff was very inviting and the surgeon himself was very warm and seemed very intellegent. The hospital he is associated with is considered a Bariatric Center of Excellence. His patients are equipped with the best of care.
I am ready to start this new chapter of my life. For anyone who is planning on having surgery, good luck and best wishes on a speeding recovery!
