Well I guess the best place is to start at the beginning....
I have been overweight for as long as I can remember, but it really started to show when I hit puberty. By the time I was in High School I was weighing about 270lbs and I was considered morbidly obese. Although I was heavy I got involved in sports, I played volley ball and basketball all throughout highschool. I was able to drop 30 lbs and kept it off. This was my biggest weight loss accomplish ever. As soon as high school was over and I started college my weight sky rocketed. I slowly began to feel the effects of my weight gain. I no longer could ride roller coasters, go to the stadiums, or even fly in an airplane... all due to fact that I could no longer fit in the seats. I am now at my highest weight 385 lbs. The reality hit when I had to have knee surgery in 2008 due to a torn cartilage. My surgeon said I had the knees of a 40 yr old and that if I didnt loose weight I would have to have knee replacement at too young of an age. Then I developed high blood pressure in 2009. That was the last straw. All my weight loss attempts failed and I would gain back everything I lost plus more. I finally decided to make a change in my life for good so I looked into weight loss surgery.
My name is Amanda. I'm scheduled to have the RNY bypass in a couple of weeks. I have come to the end of the road and am ready for a change. This is a litle extreme in my standards, but if I don't do this procedure I will be trapped in this body but never truly living life to the fullest. Not to mention most likely cutting my life short as well. I hope you enjoy the journey and that I am able to give support to others and inpiration as well.
