Long Over Due....
Dec 16, 2009
I joined OH to monitor my best friend and her journey. My friend had the RNY. I was not comfortable with that as a choice for me.The more I learned the more comfortable I became with her desicion to have that type of weight lost surgery. It also opened my eyes to my health and my life. I started doing research on the different surgeries and decided that the Realize Band may have been something for me. This was a very difficult thing for me. I fought with myself over months. I really didn't tell anyone. I wasn't comfortable talking about it. I have gotten better about that though. I have a friend at work who had the same procedure. That made things a little easier for me. I had my surgery last Thursday. I was at 247 lbs the day of surgery. After two weeks on that sweet liquid diet, I only lost 5 pounds. Needless to say I was very disappointed and my surgeon asked me what happened. I don't know why I didn't lose a lot. But that's over, I didn't gain any. Tomorrow is my week 1 mark and I am doing great. I stopped my pain meds two days after surgery. I can get around on my own and I don't have any pain. The only spot that bothers me is my port area, but I only feel that if I turn or bend a certain way. I am thankful to have close friends and family for support. It's still hard for me, but I am making tremendous strides to better my health.
