Pre-Op blood test
Jul 12, 2008
7/12/2008 - Saturday
I went into the lab today so I could be there over 3 hours for blood test. I hate drinking that glucose stuff it is so gross! The blood sucker took 10 viles of blood the first time and then once every hour, so that's a total of 13 little tubes of blood. I hope it all turns out ok, I'm a little anxious about my anemia. I hope my iron isn't too low for the surgery and if it is I'm sure I can get it up before then. Of course, the surgery hasn't even been approved yet and I'm worrying about it and I'm not even a worrier. I will get the blood test results on Monday and then fax them over to the clinic.
I've dropped 2 more pounds for a total of 11lbs dropped since I started the liver shrinking diet. I still have 5lbs to go to be under 300 for them to even do the surgery, but I feel I can accomplish that before I have surgery.
2003 weight documented. Yay!

I'm so excited that I was able to get documentation of my weight 5 yrs back. I was so surprised when I called and the receptionist said the documents were ready to pick up! Simply, amazing!
good grief!
Jul 10, 2008
Yesterday I called my GYN for records from 2003 and the nurse said he NEVER notated my weight during an exam! I just wanted to scream, instead I cried.. I was so frustrated. The nurse reviewing the records however brought up a memory I had forgotten about. I was referred to my GYN, so I went over to that office and requested my notes from 2003. They about had a cow! and said that they don't keep records that long, that they are probably archived and may not even be there. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my records are there! The insurance analyst said that if I can't get records from 2003 she will just submit my paperwork and we will go from there and if the insurance has any questions, then my surgeon can answer them and hopefully get it approved. So, tomorrow is when they said they would know if they have my records or not and would call me to let me know. Then it takes 2-3 weeks to hear something back from Aetna. I just want to get this over with! Good Grief!

yesterday's appointment
Jul 08, 2008
Wednesday the PCP will send all my records to the insurance analyst so that she can complete the packet of info she is submitting to Aetna for me. I know that I have to keep on top of all the paperwork and call and make sure everyone is doing their part. I'm nervous and anxious about all this and am hoping that the RNY surgery is approved soon.
Last diet & nutrition appointment
Jul 07, 2008
Aetna would not approve my surgery without 6 months of consecutive diet and nutrition appointments with my doctor. So, I've been doing those since January and today is my last one. I've had my psyc eval done and it was great. She said I had no diagnosis. I'm normal! :) Who would have thought it?! The sleep apnea test was done back in January so now all we need to do is submit doctor notes from the past 6 months and we should be well on our way.
As per Dr. Ellner's instructions, I've got a blood test panel to do and also do a Liver Shrinking diet, which I've started. The liver shrinking diet is hard. I know it is going to be good for me, but it is only protein and veggies. I'm gonna do it though.
I'm a little nervous and anxious about all this. I just hope Aetna approves the surgery without any more hitches!
