"I met with Dr. Schirmer the first time when going to my pre-op appointment. He was very kind and not rushed!! He took the time to answer question and go over in detail his own complication rates and knew right off hand any figures that had changed recently. He had a calm confident air about him. In the hospital Dr. Schirmer was again very calm and not rushed. When he encountered me crying in pain. He sat down on the bed and talked to me calmnly about my issues. At my post op appointment Dr. Schirmer again was not rushed and listened to all my concerns and answered the whole list of questions I had prepared before hand. The staff at UVA has consisently been nice and helpful. My wait time has been minimal. I had researched Dr. Schirmer before hand and he had been named as one of the best doctors in America. Only one other surgeon from UVA had accomplished this besides him. Working within medical field I know this accomplished is important and impressive. "
