Century Club
Jun 01, 2010
I am officially in the Century Club! This morning the scale said 205 pounds. That means I've lost 100 pounds since my pre-op testing. I'm not sure I've ever seen myself smile so much. Next stop, my next goal, weighing under 200 pounds. Thanks to all of my OH friends for all of your support and advise. Keep the journey going!

Almost at my Goal!
May 27, 2010
When I started this journey I had one thing in mind, "Get off the Meds!" Well, within a week after surgery, my doctor took me off of all of them. I have been off ever since. As I traveld this journey, I realized that I really wanted a little more than to just "Get off the Meds." I really want to be healthier all around and I wanted to feel better. I neer really felt bad - even at my heaviest. I was always active and never "felt" my weight. But now, I feel so much better! I am now within 6 pounds of my first goal - losing 100 pounds. My next goal is to weight 200 pounds. If I reach those two goals, I will be elated! Who would have thought that I would be down 94 pounds in 5 months....
I know that this journey is nowhere near over. It will be a liflong journey. But being so close to my original goal makes me feel great! I can't wait to post that I am down 100 pounds!
I need to spend more time exercising. The flab on my arms is starting to annoy me. I know that the extra skin around my mid section and other places might just be a "part of life" for me, but I hope I can tone my arms a bit. Other than that, I could not be happier. This surgery was the best decision I could have made! Dr. Pupkova keeps telling me what a good job I have done. My response to her is, "If she hadn't given me so much information and inspiration, and didn't perform a perfect surgery, I wouldn't be in he shape I'm in. I feel blessed to have done the research, made this decision, and to have found the people at Barix Clinic.
Until next time!

I am off of all meds (except for Pepcid and URSO presecribed by surgeron for the first 6 months). I feel great and can see my goal weight just ahead of me. I hope all of my OH friends are doing well. I promise to check back more often.

Been Away...But All is GREAT
Mar 27, 2010
I've been away from the Site for a while. We had visitiors from overseas and my family, friends, and I have been on a couple of cruises. Everything is going well. I am still off of all meds except for Trilipix. I go to see my doctor next week and expect to be off of that also. I am down about 70 pounds from my Pre-Op Visit weight and feel great. My only real problem is getting enough fluids some times. There just doesn't seem to be enough time to get the 64-80 ounces in a day. My schedule is very busy, but I keep trying. Bloodwork tomorrow will tell the true story about how I'm doing I guess. CYA!

41 Pounds Down
Jan 23, 2010
Well it's been 24 days since surgery. All is going really well. I have lost 41 pounds since my Pre-Op visit and 33 since surgery. I feel great! Still having problems from time to time drinking plain water. Everything else goes down good. Soft foods are starting to get boring. I'll be eating real foods on Wednesday. Protein goal is 86g. With a cople of shakes every day, along with lots of tuna and chicken, I'm doing pretty good. Looking forward to a good salad though. Hope everyone else is doing well; especially those who had surgery on December 29th with me.

It's Been One Week
Jan 04, 2010
I can't believe that it's already been a full week. Tomorrow, I'll start on the Pureed Foods portion of my diet. Wendy's Chili, YUM!
I have had no pain at all. I feel great! Weight today was 279. That's 22 pounds lost since I reported for surgery.
Went to my Endocrinologist today. She took me off of ALL Diabetes meds. On my way home after the appointment, I shed a couple of tears. This was one of the main reasons for having the surgery; to get off of all the meds. Only PB and Cholesterol meds left. She thinks I'll be off of both of them soon also.
I am tollerating all liquids except those that taste too sweet - Crystal Light and Kool Aid. I'm also having a little trouble with water of all things. Getting cramps when drinking water from time to time.
FULL SPEED AHEAD - LET THE LOSING CONTINUE!!!

Just Got Home!
Dec 31, 2009
Well, I just got home from the Hospital. Everything went extremely well! Dr. Pupkova and the entire Barix staff did a wonderful job. Surgery went off without a hitch. Had some Gas problems yesterday. It was pretty uncomfortable; actaully painful for a little bit. Then.....at 4:11am this morning.... IT HAPPEND. When I broke wind, it was the official start of my new life. That date and time will stay with me forever. Now that the gas is gone, I feel great; just a little aching. Now to work on the diet and the ever-hard task of getting enough protein.
THANKS for all of my OH friends for your well wishes!

SURGERY RE-SCHEDULED
Dec 28, 2009
Well...Barix has rescheduled my surgery for tomorrow, December 29th. That means a total of 2+ days on just clear liquids. It's not so bad though. I guess my excitement is overpowering my hunger. It's funny...when they cancelled my surgery this morning, one of the first things I thought of was, "If they don't re-schedule until next week, where am I going to eat today?" Pretty Sad! Hopefully everything will work out for tomorrow. See you all "on the other side."

SURGERY CANCELLED!!!
Dec 27, 2009
Just got a call from Barix Clinic (5:15am). All surgeries for today are cancelled! The girls said that she tried to call me at home at 11:00 last night, but I was at the hotel. She finally called my wife's cell phone (thank God for the Emergency Contact list I guess). She has no idea why they were all cancelled. I have to call a little bit later to find out more. To say I am disappointed is a huge understatement.
