I really wish I had started this before the surgery so I would have my feelings down on "paper". However, I can't change the past and there is no reason to make excuses. The good news is I'm starting now!
My journey started in the summer of 2010. I had been really struggling with several health issues and all the specialists basically told me that I needed to lose 50-60 pounds inorder to get well. I've always struggled with my weight. I remember going on my first diet in the 4th grade. That is not a good feeling. I exercised and dieted my whole life to stay at 145 in high school and 160 in my early 20's. I always watched what I ate and was a dancer, but still struggled. I married at the age of 21 and when I was 27 we had our wonderful daughter, Sydney. During the pregnancy I stopped dieting and just ate normal portions of normal food. I went from 160 to 207 on the day of delivery. About six weeks after I delivered my daughter, I was down to about 180 and I was mortified when the doctor told me I would have to "diet" the rest of the weight off. I joined Weight Watchers and I reached 157 with in 6 months of giving birth. I was really happy.
During this whole time my mother became very ill with breast cancer. I slowly added 7-10 pounds. I wasn't so concerned at this point. My mother passed away on December 3, 2002 and I turned to food for comfort. Over the next two years I packed on 50 pounds. I've lived with this weight ever since. Last summer I got up to an all time high of 222.
