...and I still can't believe I am down 55 pounds!  WOO HOO!

So my first post was in August and it is now almost the end of January.  My medical insurance said I needed 6 months of supervised diet...done!  Then in December, my doctor placed a pre-approval request with insurance, and they declined it.  They said I had to use ONLY an "In Network" doctor for weight loss surgery.  So, Christmas week, I was insanely running around trying to find a doctor. 
To the rescue comes Dr. Jean-Baptiste...he was recommended highly and I went for a consult.  The magic words he said were "Do you want to keep your surgery date".  I said yes, and we are off!
This coming Monday (1/26) I have my pre-op tests and Wednesday is my RNY.

Where do you start?  I am 55 and I love life...well, most of it.  I've been overweight my whole life and have tried everything you can think of to lose weight.  I started to look into this weight loss surgery "thing" when Carnie Wilson did it several years ago.  I even went to a surgeon for a consultation but I chickened out.  Then 5 years ago, my brother did it.  He lost 110 pounds (I think!) and looks fabulous! The better part is that he FEELS fabulous...and I want that too.  At 5'6" my BMI is not quite 39.
I went to meet my brother's doctor this past weekend and made all the arrangements to start my journey. 
I have to be on a medically supervised diet for 6 months, but that's okay.  I'll keep this blog up so I can go back later and reminisce about my fat days!
