I'm a 37 year old critical care nurse in Baltimore, Maryland. I got tired of being fat and decided to get gastric bypass surgery after contemplating for over 10 years. It was the best decision that I've ever made in my life and I've never been happier. I don't have to worry about bumping into people unintentionally, wondering whether or not someone is looking at my serving size of food and not being able to shop in the clothing stores for small people. If this sounds like a big self esteem problem then you bet it is. Now my self confidence is great. And not having hunger pains is really great. Going from a size 24/26 to a size 10 has been pretty amazing. I still have 40 pounds to go and have to change my exercise regimen to reach that goal. So I will keep trudging along because exercising is getting to be fun now that i don't feel like i'm gonna die....
