Hi My name is Annie Palmer, im a 49 y/o woman that had gastric bypass surgery on 11-3-08, it all started out great, lost over 100 lbs the first yr, then BAM!! it happened, on 11-13-09 I had my first small bowel obstruction, was a nightmare, I lost blood, almost died, my hemacrit was so low & and had a bad infection bc the bowel was gangerous, Dr Kuhn did my bypass & what happened according to my new surgeon is, he somehow forgot to sew up a section during surgery & the small bowel was caught in the section & became gangerous causing the blockage, then after 14 days in the hospital on jan 9th, it happened again, this time they passed it using a NG tube & not another surgery TG after 9 days in the hosp I was released on a liquid diet, Now here it is on feb 23rd & had a upper GI Series done today, The Dr came in to talk to me & called me a "WALKING MIRACLE" he says he isnt sure how im even eating because the stomach is so tiny & the tubes are thinner than a coffee stirrer, says I will now need 2 future surgeries because lesions are strangulating the second bowel obstruction & they also need to reverse the bypass but I wont gain any weight bc of the stomach size, Im not sure whats next yet I see my surgeon tomorrow, & he will come up with a game plan, Im hoping this can wait a few months until my scars heal on my tummy as they are still so sore, Im having tummy pains still but nothing compared to what it was last month, I do eat but very tiny bits at a time, Im still losing wt, so far I've lost 191 lbs & am at 220 lbs, I dont want to lose too fast & get sick so im trying to eat, and keep up with my vitamins.
