When it rains, it pours.
Jun 04, 2008
Well last week I ended up being in the hospital for 4 freakin days. I had some major abdominal pains and kept throwing up every 15-30 minutes. I felt like I was dumping but I knew I wasn't. All I had to eat was some scramble eggs in the morning then some non sweetened ice tea. If anything I had under eaten for the day. Well it was like around 8pm and out of no where I started having these major abdominal pains and kept throwing up. After 4 hours of the same thing I called my surgeon he told me to take a Zantacs and if in a hour there were no changes to go to the ER. Well I decided to wait till next morning (mind you, this WHOLE time I kept throwing up every 15-30 minutes) well then I went to the ER after a sleepless night. At first they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me, but it turned out I was passing some pretty massive kidney stones, I even had chills. Well they admitted me into the hospital and even with anti nausea meds I still couldn't keep anything down. I ended up staying for four days, 2 days longer then what it should have been. I ended up staying that extra time because in one of my episodes of throwing up I got up really quick and popped my knee. So the hospital had to do an MRI and an X-ray. Oh also while I had the IV in me it apparently infratrated(sp?) into the tissue so my arm blew up to 3 times it's size. It got so bad the IV was no longer going in instead in was leaking out of my arm, very scary. I finally got out on Friday (after much complaining to the nurses and doctors, but that's a different drama) and for all those 4 days I didn't get paid at work. I have already used all my pto because of my actual bypass surgery. So ya this is why I say when it rains it pours. If it wasn't one thing it was another. Now I still have to go see an orthopedic about my knee. .......... On a lighter note I had to get rid of more then half of my closet because nothing fits any more. I even bought a size 20 pants the Saturday before going into the hospital. They were originally just fitting right, but after not eating and being on IV for a week I apparently lost like 10 pounds and was a size 20 for like a day. Now I have no clue what size I am. I can’t believe it, it's been 2 1/2 months and I'm already half way to goal and only 30 pounds shy off the 100 pound mark aand I’m down 9-10 sizes. OMG this is awesome even with the few complications I've gotten it has ALL been worth it. I would do it again in a heart beat. Thanks for letting me share.

I'm on day 9 of my liquid diet and so far have lost 12 pounds. Clearly I was in shock when I saw the scale. I thought I had broken the scale or something. lol Well I can finally say I am starting to feel better. The first few days of the liquid diet I was miserable because I had a TERRIBLE cold then my doctor started me on some really harsh antibiotics. Actually it wasn't until today that I stop vomiting and finally got that feeling of wanting to vomit constantly off.(sorry tmi) I had to eat something solid yesterday or else I knew the rest of the diet was going to be horrible. Since yesterday I had the feeling of wanting to vomit the WHOLE day I wasn't able to have any of my shake. Even the thought of having one made me run to the bathroom.(sorry again tmi) So at night I made myself and my husband a turkey patty. We just ate the patty alone with a little salt and pepper and cooked it on the George Foreman grill. We had some steamed brussel sprouts with it. I think finally having something solid in my system to counteract the pills I was taking is what made me feel better. I'm back on liquids so it's not too bad. My doctor said it was ok because I substituted a shake for a lean meet but he wanted me to continue with the shakes because they have all the nutrients I would need. Ok so I admit I am getting really really nervous. My surgery is next week. YIKES!! It's true what everyone has said, the time has been going by really fast and now I'm only 8 days away. omg! I'm trying to get things in order before surgery. I already took my "before" picture, but I'm too chicken to post it on my profile. lol Maybe once I lose 75 pounds or something I might muster up enough courage to show them to the world. Until then they are staying nice and safe in my private documents. Oh I also bought all my supplements and everything I was going to need during the liquid diet phase. While I was in the supermarket I kept pointing at foods that I can have during my purred stage. I kept telling my husband "I can have that and that and that" He got so annoyed he just said ok then now he knows thank you very much. lol oh well at least he can't say I didn't warn him. Well that's all for now folks. Bye

Also seeing as my birthday falls during my liquid diet we went out to celebrate my birthday a little early. So it served both as a birthday dinner and a "last supper." We went to this place called The Rustic Inn and it's a crab house. I had a platter called the crab sampler and it was HUGE. I've never had so many crab legs on one plate just for me, I was in heaven. lol Anyways towards the end they brought out a little cake (which you can see in my pictures) and everyone song happy birthday to me. It was soo nice and as they were singing happy birthday everyone was hitting there tables with the malots. Yesturday truely was one of the best days of had. In the morning got to spend some alone time with husband and our furbaby, then went out to Mcdonalds (for the last time), then went to the movies to see semi-pro, then went to the crab house, and topped off the night by going to Cold Stone and having the Chocolate Devotion. (seriously that was almost as good as sex) lol, almost.
So after such an eventful day I had a hard time falling asleep. I just didn't want the day to end. I knew that the moment I woke up my liquid diet would commense and I just happened to have this "wonderful" cold waiting for me. (lucky me, right?) Anyways the positive part about this is that my surgery is now only 2 weeks away. whoohoo!!!
Ok everyone soo almost there keep that losers bench warm for me. Thanks for letting me share!

I am constantly paranoid thinking that any day now somethings going to happen that will sabotouge the surgery. I guess it's just my nerves gettign the best of me. I'm sure everything will be ok. Tomorrow I have my last appointment with my pcp for my evaluations and on Monday I start the dreaded liquid diet. Oh ya and lucky me just 5 days into my liquid diet and it happens to be my birthday. Ya Happy early Birthday to me on March 7th.
I'm turning 26. I was kind of hoping to have had the surgery by the time I was 25, but hey things happen. ok well I'll check back in later. Bye everybody
