I am a 37 year old mother of two children. I also have a wonderful husband who I have been married to for 14 years now. We also had one daughter who was born sick, and she passed away when she was only 8 1/2 months old. I have two boys who are 17 months and 7 years old. They are both a handful. I have been diabetic for almost 4 years now, and I also have a history of high blood pressure. The high blood pressure was a lasting gift from my baby. Gotta love those kids. Anyway, I am officially 8 days post-op today and things have been running pretty smooth. I am ready to go back to work, but my employer won't take me back yet since I have restrictions. I can't lift anything above 20 pounds, so they won't let me come back. This is a real bummer for me because financially, it is going to be a struggle. Anyway, I am hoping things will work out. I had a lap RNY on 10/05/2006 by Dr. Craig Chang. He is awesome. Dr. Chang also took out my gallbladder and did an umbilical hernia repair. Lucky for me I was on a morphine PCA pump right after surgery. THANK GOODNESS!!! Surgery went great and hospitalization was a breeze. So far I don't have any regrets about having the surgery. I am getting kind of bored with just eating full liquids, but I am also afraid of taking in "real" food. I haven't had any trouble getting my water in either. Protein so far has been the only thing, but I have been drinking my supplements that my surgeon ordered and as far as I know that is sufficient for the first two weeks post-op

Well, I had to go to the ER yesterday. I had this awful pain in my stomach that had been ongoing for at least 16 hours. I called my surgeon and he told me to go to the ER. The nice thing was that hew showed up there to make sure that everything was going okay. Anyway, he gave me to bags of IV fluids and sent me home, I felt a little better after that. But, today I feel even better. I am down to 219, now. LIfe is awesome right now.

Well, I went for a follow up today. According to the scale I am down to 213 pounds. I can't remember when the last time was that I weighed that much. I am still having trouble eating. I am only serving 1/4 cup of a carb, 1/4 cup of protein and a 1/4 c of a fruit/vegetable. I can manage most of the protein, but that is about it. I am supposed to go back in 4 weeks and the doctor says that he may bump me up to 4 meals a day so that I can get all my protein in. Well, he also said that I am ready to go back to work. I got my B-12 injection and I was able to start on "grown-up" vitamins. WooHoo!!!
