Back On Track!!! 10/16/08

Oct 16, 2008

I am so happy to say that I am back on track. My sister is on a weight loss program & is loosing alot of weight, and she has become a major inspiration to me. My entire family is so totally awsome in the fact that they have always encouraged me to just do what is right & healthy for me. After I attended the one day event, I got so enerigized that I got back on track. I also purchased the BodyBugg & that is a big help as well. I am going to the gum now on a regular basis too. Oh did I mention I got a personal trainer. Yep sure did. I sure did need to get back on track.

The OH 1 Day Event

Sep 22, 2008

8/22/08
Well I got to go to my first OH Event & I must say it was alot of fun. I met alot of local people & got re-aquaninted with some that I already knew. I got to meet Betty Sue from the Biggest Looser & wow what a motovated person she is. It gave me alot of inspiration & helped to set my mind back in the direction it needed to be in. I am going to try once again to stay on track & make this work.

Where did I go.....

9/19/08
Well I sure have not been good about keeping this page updated to say the least. It has been almost 1 year since my last post. I was doing great & somewhere I got completly off track. I got to the 70lb loss mark & then I started eating as if I never had the surgery. I have not gained any weight but also have not lost anymore either. I got very depressed and mad that I allowed this to happen. My doctor as well as everyone around told me that the surgery was just a tool & that I would need to change everything about the way I eat, well as I said that only lasted for a few months. I kept telling myself prior to the surgery that the surgery would have to work, because if I cheeted & got sick that, that would put an end to the cheeting real fast. Well thats an under statement. I did cheet & did not get sick. And as much as I hate to say this, I really wanted to get sick. Nothing happened, so I cheeted more & more untill I was compleatly eating just as if I never had the surgery. Pizza, Ice cream, candy, whatever. The only thing I did not cheet on was soda. Once I started I could not stop. It has been just over a year since my surgery & I am now getting back on track. I have lost another 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks. I really have alot of hope to trigger another weight loss, after all I did not spend the amount of money on the surgery just to have a 70lb weight loss. I have to really work at my food addiction. I will try to keep this updated a little more often. Tomorrow is A 1 day OH Convention in Maes & I am going & hoping to get more motovation there.

Update

Oct 03, 2007

WoooHooo. Well I am now 9 weeks post op & feeling great. I am down 45lbs. My husband keeps telling me how great I look. What a wonderful feeling. I am eating the best I can. I am very careful not to eat sugars, and I eat very little fat. Some of my food choices are: Salmon, tuna, boca burgers, eggs, chicken (love it with salsa) yougart & sometimes kashi cereal. I add veggies to my meals to make them more complete. My favorite treat is Blue Bunny Health Smart Ice Cream bars. I will up date more as I continue to be a looser.

Well I am 2 weeks post op & feeling great. I am down 22lbs.
My left side is a little sore, but not much. I am tring to walk every day as much as I can. It is very hot here in Phoenix (105) so I am going to the mall & walking inside befor they open. I am still on full liquids. Tomorrow I will advance to the next phase of my diet. Yippie looking forward to soft eggs. I am finding it a little hard to get in all my protein. I am using the IDS test tube liquid protein. It has 42 grms, so I drink half & later drink the other half. It is okay but so thick. Bottom line...I am soooo happy & glad I did the surgery. Tomorrow I go back to work. That is good because I am getting board at home. I will update again soon.

My Ensenada Experience

Aug 11, 2007

August 11, 2007
Please view my pictures to see more of my Ensenada experience.
Wow what a wonderful experience.I had the best doctors a person could ask for. Dr. Salvador Valencia & his partner Dr Jose Marchiena did my surgery. Dr. Salvador Valencias brother Dr.Hugo Valencia was my anasthesillogist. They made the best team.
I arrived in San Diego on 7/29/07. Dr Aguirre had his driver Bambi pick my Mom & I up and drive us the 2 hours to Ensenada. We meet w/ Dr Aguirre at his office & he explained the entire procedure including the risks involved and made sure all our questions were answered. Bambi then took us to the Velmar Hospital to check in.
Once at the hospital we met w/ Dr Hugo Valencia. It was a relief to hear that he spoke perfect english. He took us to my room and talked to my Mom & I. I felt so much better after meeting him. He asked lots of questions about myslef and my medical history. He made us feel so welcome. After he left,  his brother the Dr Salvador the surgon and his partner came in to see us. They were wonderful. Very differant in Mexico. We were traeated like family. Dr V explained the entire procedure as well as all the possible risks, and answered all our questions. He gave me some paperwork to read and sign, gave me a laxative for later & said we could go have a lite meal.
The hospital room was not any differant than here in the states. It was a larger room so my Mom could stay with me. The only bad thing was that the futon my Mom had to sleep on was awful. It was like lying in a pit. Not good. Also the shower water is only hot in the morning hours. I do not know why that was.
Day of surgery, I went to have a chest xray, did blood work, got my legs wraped & at 11:00AM went to surgery. My surgery was about 2 1/4 hours.
I was up and walking within a hour of my surgery. I was afraid to lay in bed. I really did not have much pain, just soreness & discomfort. It was much better then I had expected.
My Doctors were there all through out the day checking on me. At least 3-4 times the day of surgery. They had also given us their cell & home numbers to reach them if needed.
Even though the nurses did not speak much english there was never a problem communicating w/ them. They were all great.
My doctors continued to check on me for the next 2 days. On Wed Babmi took us to grocery store & then to a nice Hotel where we stayed untill Friday. The Hotel had a small refridgitor in it as well as a coffee pot, 2 large beds and a nice size bathroom.  Of course I didnt have much to put in the fridge, but it was nice for my Mom.
While at the hotel I got a lot of walking in around the area.
On friday we left to come back to Phoenix.
I was a little afraid going there even though I had done alot of research. All I can say is everything went very well. I am so glad I had the Valencias for my doctors, they are the best.

Here We Go - Liquid Diet

Jul 19, 2007

July 20 2007
Well I started my liquid diet 4 days ago. Its not as bad as I thought. I bought pre made protein drinks to have at work to make it easier, just grab & drink. Here are what I have tried . Myoplex french vanilla & chocolate, they are good. Isopure all flovors YUCK YUCK YUCK. The go down okay, but have a nasty after taste. The Grape frost was the best. My favorite is Lean Body, it is available in Vanilla Ice Cream flavor & Chocolate Ice Cream Flavor. They are a little thick & taste great. I got them at Hi Health.
On another note I have been attending a WLS support meeting twice per month, the meeting has been a great help. They have answered alot of my questions. My Husband attended one with me last month & also found it helpful. Well just 9 day & I board my flight to a lighter me. I will keep up w/ my posts as best as I can to let everyone know how I am doing. Thanks to everyone for all your help.

Getting Closer

Jun 10, 2007

June 10 2007
Well as I get closer to my date I find myself totally consumed with nothing but my surgery. I guess Im not the only one who has felt this way. After all, I am finally going to be given a tool that will help me change my life, the way I feel about myself & become a healthier person. I attended a WLS support group yesterday and it was very imformative. The people were great & welcomed me & all my questions, I can't wait for the next meeting. Surgery is in just 50 days away, and don't think I won't be counting every day. Obesityhelp.com and it's members has been a godsend to me. I will try to keep my page updated as I continue with my journey.
