Mt. Sinai Hospital (COE)

"My only complaint was that my room happened to be right next to the employee lounge, and that door make a hideous sound every time it was opened. It was a metal on metal grinding squeal that woke me up every time! It took me a day or so to even realize where the noise was coming from, and when I asked about it, the employees had no idea what I was talking about. They no doubt no longer hear the horrible noise. *******There is a nurse's aid on the bariatric floor whose name is Frankie who was by far the most dedicated person I have ever seen work in a hospital. He always had a smile and he seemed to be there just for me, though I know he had many other patients to take care of. He made a huge difference in my hospital stay, and I feel so lucky that he was assigned to my room. ******Regarding parking, it is very convenient but you have to pay to park in the garage. Can be expensive if someone is staying over to help you. "

Alfons Pomp

"Post-op notes on Dr Pomp: I have no reservations in recommending Dr Pomp and Mount Sinai for WLS. Please email me if you have any questions. I have experienced "Cadillac Care" from this Dr and hospital, and do not have even one tiny criticism. Dr. Pomp is a great guy and an excellent surgeon. The hospital and staff are first rate. His bedside manner should be the gold standard by which medical doctors learn. He was very thorough when it came to business, yet compassionate and willing to listen and take the time when I had things to say. And he will take the time to share a joke, no matter how busy he is. Aftercare seems important and I have been given thorough info re what to do at home, post op. This was mailed to me so that I could prepare. All of the necessary post op info is there, from diet guidelines to activity guidelines, what to watch for and what is normal. I was concerned about pain about a week post op and called Dr Pomp's service at 6:45 in the morning and he called me back before 7:00. This man seems to love what he does and he does it very well. I still rate him and his staff, and his hospital as a 10 out of 10. Pre-op notes on Dr Pomp: I went to Dr. Pomp after having been a patient of Dr. Andrei's. If anyone is interested in why I left, please email me and I will share my experience. I am so pleased with my decision to leave and go to Dr. Pomp. My first consult with him lasted almost an hour, and he would have gladly stayed as long as I needed. Thorough, compassionate, respectful, intelligent, funny and empathetic all describe his manner. He made it very clear to me that the success of this surgery is dependant upon 3 factors. Number one is the surgery itself for which he takes responsibility. Number 2 and 3 are up to me, and they are diet and exercise. He is honest about the fact that many patients have this surgery and remain fat, but are no longer morbidly obese. My boyfriend was with me and Dr P addressed all of his concerns, too. All risks were addressed and the Dr made notes and drew pictures and in so doing, he has a record of what he told me. This simple task would have saved me a year at Dr. Andrei's office. His nutritionist was waiting for me in the hall after my appointment, and she spent another 45 minutes with me. Her name is Meredith and I like her alot. Nutrition is important with these people and they make it well known that they are there for you. At this point, I rate my experience with this doctor and his staff as a 10 out of 1-10. "
