It has been a while!
Jan 24, 2011
Well I'm back on OH. A lot of changes have taken place, and I am now living in the Calgary area. I am over 2 years post-op, still maintaining between 172-180, depending on what I have been up to! I am now thinking of plastic surgery. I know in some provinces it can be covered by the medical insurance, but I have no idea about what is the deal in Alberta. Anyone???

7 weeks post-op
Sep 01, 2008
Well here I am, 7 weeks post op. My weight as of this morning is 260.4. I'm very pleased with my results so far. It has not been easy, by any means, but so worth it!
I feel so much better, more energetic, able to go up and down the stairs in my house without feeling like death is imminent.
This has been the best decision in my life, for sure.

Countdown is On...
Jun 30, 2008
Well today is june 30th, so the countdown is on. Only 18 more days...
Although I'm still a bit scared, I'm convinced that this will be a good thing for me. I look foward to the new lifestyle, although I am enjoying my few last weeks of "normal eating".
I'm on vacation, so while I should be getting the house organized for after my surgery, I've decided to spend the quality time with my kids, hanging around the pool.
Just got back from Vegas with my girlfriend, had an awesome time. And amazingly enough I did not gain any weight. Mind you we didn't eat that much, but did plenty of drinking... LOL!
That's it for today!

In hiding
Jun 19, 2008
Well I'm going in hiding... of sort.
I can't seem to make up my mind and stick to it, so I'm going to spend the next few days reflecting as to why I want that surgery and how much I'm prepare to sacrifice for it.
Is it about loosing weight, or looking better? Feeling healthy again, or other issues I might have?
Time will tell...
My meeting with Dr Graber
Jun 11, 2008
Well I finally met the famous Dr Graber, on June 9th 2008.
It was a very nice meeting. I first spent some time with Lisa, his nurse, who answered a lot of my and my husband's questions. I then got to go meet with Dr Graber. Now the bow tie might seem scary and at first I thought he was a bit abrupt, but after a few minutes, we warmed up to him.
So now, I'm awaiting for my surgery, which currently sheduled for August 21st 2008. I'm hoping to get it sooner, on a waitlist.
As for the DS vs RNY debate, I have decided that although the DS would be a good option for me, the most important thing for me, is to get healthy, and if I keep eating the same way I have been, I will get thinner, which is nice, but not healthier, as my eating habits are not the bestest!!! So, I am a bit scared that I wills struggle with the RNY, but I'm up for the challenge!
Now, if that phone would ring already!

DS or RNY
May 30, 2008
May 30th 2008
I'm currently in the process of getting approved for RNY because when I started all this I thought this was the only option for me. But now I'm researching the DS and it's very confusing to say the least....
My husband thinks the RNY is better, but just because he believes that open surgery should only be as a last resort.
I'm scared that I will gain back the weight after, because, let's face it, I'm not very disciplined!
So off to Dr Graber on June 9th and I have made a tentative appt for OHIP to approved a consultation with Dr L. for which I made an appt on June 13th. Good think I can fly there!
Anyhow, that's it for today!
