Well everyone, as you all know, I have been struggeling with my weight for many years, ever since little Kristopher who will be 16 this year (man do I feel old) was brought into this world.  I want to share some very exciting and very welcome news. I have been approved for Weight loss surgery. The procedure that I am getting is called the LapBand. It is a procedure that they do where they create a new stomach out of your existing stomach by putting a band up around the top of the stomach itself.
Here is a video of what it is: http://www.lapband.com/#thisVideo ; Here is more information: http://www.lapband.com/

Many years ago I thought about getting this procedure done, but wasnt in the right place to do so. I am much more comfortable in my skin to get this done now, and Aaron and the kids have been so supportive of me. I feel I am ready to do this and change my life. It has been a constant struggle with my weight. I found out after I had Kris that something in my body went haywire. Then came Kess. It wasnt until many years later when my mental state had become so extreme that I found out that I was Hypothyroid.  That is where your body can not support your metabolism on its own. It becomes slow and thus puts on the pounds, not to mention a billion other problems. So now that I have it under control, the weight problem plataues or stalls. I gain about 5 pounds and they adjust my medicine and it stays. Then time goes on I gain 5 pounds and they adjust my medication and it stays. This has been the cycle since about 1997.

The upside to this surgery is that I may be able to come off my medicine, or go back to reasonable levels with it. Also some of you may or may not know is that I have Type-2 Diabetes. In most cases with weightloss like this, most people dont have to take blood sugar medicine either so that is appealing as well.

My surgery date is June 15th. I have my appointment with the Dietician on May 21st. At that appoinment I will be put on a diet that will mainly consist of liquids and small meals. This is to get your liver to shrink and allow easier access to the stomach. It also shows your motivation towards changing your life. They say if you dont lose 10-15lbs during those couple of weeks you will NOT have the surgery. Your doctor will cancel until you can get your stuff together.   The after care from this practice is great. They have a support group that meets every month to help you out and you get to network with others just like you.

I will keep you all posted on my progress and let you know any updates.

Thank you all for your support!
