WoW, after seeing pics and videos with my family, I couldn't believe it was me. My highest weight was 313. I hadn't gotten on a scale for years. When I did I couldn't believe it. I had a disc slip out of my back down into the root nerve of my leg. I woke up unable to get out of bed and was in horrendous pain. I couldn't do anything. I had to be hauled out of my house by the emt's. I then had to be transported to the nearest surgical hospital. I was unable to walk for along time and continued to go through so much pain. I have permanent nerve damage. I had to learn balance again and after a while I was able to stand and had to learn to walk again. This took 10 months of bed rest and learning how to deal with chronic pain. Unable to do much exercise for the past 7 years I have gained so much weight.
My dear father pasted away on Aug. 25, 2009. He came to me a few months before and said how worried he was about my weight and wanted to help me get the stomach bypass before he died. ( He has cancer). I told him I would love to have the surgery. I got my appointments setup.. and was on my way. The day of my surgery my father wasn't doing very good and continued to tell me not to cancel it. My surgery was scheduled for 3:00 pm. My father was getting worse by the minute. I didn't know what to do. I had been through the week of protein drinks and broth. I was stressed to the max! I got a call at 1:00 pm the hospital said they over scheduled and needed to change my date. I couldn't believe it. I was so glad I was able to be with my family when my father passed away. I rescheduled my surgery for Sept. 8, 2009. I had the surgery and with in 3 days I was so sick. I couldn't eat or drink with out feeling sooo sick. I started throwing up and couldn't quit. I went to the ER and was transported by ambulance 3 hours to the hospital where I had the bypass. I had a bowel obstruction. I now have six cuts and one long one up my belly. I was in ICU for 5 days and 3 more days on the bypass floor. I then had to stay by the hospital for a week. I am slowly on the mend now and losing weight.
I didn't feel all the extra pain and getting pnemonia was worth it. But, now that I am doing better and loosing weight..... I gained 50 pounds in the hospital because my kidneys had a hard time working. So I've lost 95 lbs 6 weeks. I guess it's worth it.
