Two months down...are we there yet???

Updates:

7.27.07 - Had final psych visit...she totally cleared me and will be writing a letter (of which she'll send me a copy) to clear me for surgery.  Love Alice Esmond!!!

8.07.07 - My sister visited our PCP and was given an appt to see Dr Singh three months prior to my appt.  What the Heck??? I called the PCP's office and asked them if they could set my appointment, cause I haven't had much luck on that end.

8.09.07 - PCP office calls back and they tell me to call Albany Med on monday if I haven't heard from them yet.  They will move my appointment up...they have a new surgeon on staff that will be helping with Dr Singh's interviews.

8.15.07 - Called Albany Med to confirm sister's appt for that afternoon.  They ask if she went to the seminar at noon.  What Seminar??? This is news to us.  Apparently, to see Dr ROSATI, you must first attend a seminar.  Ahem...she wasn't going to see Dr Rosati, as he doesn't perform laproscopically.  Oh LORD!!!! Here we go again.

Rescheduled both of our appts for Sept 26th, with Dr Singh's partner and will not need to attend any preconsult seminar.  I HOPE THIS WORKS

Today - Have yet to hear anything from Ellis team.  I'm wondering if I should give up altogether and save the copays for big clothes.  I honestly don't want to give up, like I normally do.  I wanna see this thing through, and I'd like to do it with the hospital I began the process with.  Been going through a bout of depression which is leading me to eating anything but healthy foods.  And my eating schedule is so out of whack.  Starving one day, and gorging the next.  Gotta get on track and reschedule appt with Nutritionist.  Hope I haven't gained weight and she's disappointed.

One month down...countless more to go

Jul 25, 2007

Well, I don't feel as though I've accomplished much since my PCP appointment on 6.11.07. I've been to one nutritionist appointment (6.20.07) and will have my second on 8.3.07. Also, I will be visiting Dr Esmond a third time this friday, for my psych eval. She had her lap. RNY six years ago...so I was glad to be paired up with her, having the ability to ask oodles of personal questions about the surgery. But other than that, I'm pretty much at a standstill.

I'm probably doing penance for the fact that I haven't yet purchased to food for my new eating plan. That's why I'm having to endure these problems with Albany Med, right?

Which problems are those, you ask???

Oh, you shall soon wish you hadn't inquired!

Lets start at the beginning:

5.8.07- called Albany Med asking for a mailed info packet...

6.4.07- called Albany Med again...no packet received...was told they no longer send them out, will need to schedule appt with Nurse Practioner if laproscopic RNY is desired...scheduled for 8.1.07...call ended before I could ask if referral was needed.

7.16.07- called Albany Med yet again to ask about referral necessity...informed I will be seeing Dr Rosati, and yes referral is required... call ended before I could ask if Dr Rosati now performs laproscopically, as I was informed that he did not.

7.17.07- called Albany Med(deja vu)...gave background info...should in fact be seeing Nurse Practioner if Lap. RNY method is desired (imagine that!) next available appt for NP is 10.18.07 (but they will call if any cancelations occur to expedite the process)... too stunned by seeming unorganization of surgeons' office to ask about referral requirements. shall have to call again.

EGADS!!!!!!!

After the red fury dissipated I envisioned an unreported localized natural disaster like a small tornado, must have hit the office, whiping out their computer system and causing the appointment setters to have attempt to recall who has an appointment with whom, and when as they rebuilt their databases.

My current dilemma, should I call and ask if a referral is needed, fearing what surprises may next be delivered (such as: all appts pushed back to 2008)? Or should I take my experience thus far as a preview of what I should further expect overall..and look into Ellis' surgeons? I truly do not wish to start over with this whole thing, but should I risk staying with Albany Med when I'll most likely have to keep reminding them of my existence?

Well... you didn't answer my questions quickly enough, so I sent an email to Ellis requesting information. This way I can at least keep my options open.
