My Story? Doesn't every one in lfife have one?
Basically I think differently from most people...but we wont go there.
I was very unhappy with my weight, size and health. I realised that I wouldn't be around for my family if I kept on putting on the weight, no more than 5 years anyway. So doing the lap banding weight loss surgery was something I just jumped into, as I tried every other way of dieting. The WW is a great help to many. I had tried WW a number of times, so much I can't really count since the age of 17. My mother has always been big, and I looked at her thinking that I didn't want to end up like her. In fact, I was bigger!
I gave myself some time to think about it during the year before I had it done. The waiting period for that wasn't too long but I had Australian Health Insurance. Other wise I'd be on the public waiting list for 4 years.
Despite a few complications at the beginning, the weight come steadily down. I learnt to eat well, and researched meals for people how have had gastric bypass, and gastric lap banding (very common proceedure in Australia).
In the end I wrote a book to help others intending to or having, or had weight loss surgery, with diet, recipes, and much more motivating information. I am not a doctor, but I know how it feels to have the weight loss surgery as a person not completely happy due to not have an available dietician at the time, and the only offer from my doctor was start some diet shakes...which to me was ludercrous. I started taking the book more seriously. The surgeon can only do the surgery part, with regular weigh ins. In other ways, I had to learn to eat again!
Now I've gone from 258lbs to 158lbs (up and down slightly during 'that' time of the month).
So my book's URL is as follows; http://hillsna.tripod.com/ Check out my 'before' and 'after' photos there.
I've seen a lot of people here with their beautiful 'before' and 'after' photos. I am extremely happy to be part of this site, and with so many people I can look up to.
