I just wanted to post that we are still able to lose more weight post RNY at 20 years. I got to feeling "fat" again when COVID started and there were no distractions to keep me away from the pantry. I was at 176 pounds, my goal weight for many years has been a stable 172. So, I just told myself to try seeing if I could lose back down to my lowest post-surgery weight of 162. I recorded my weight and food intake on the Carb Master app, tried various diets like Nutrisystem, Keto, Whole 30 etc., took 6 months of a Noom course, and tried to mostly stay around 1200 calories each day.
Really, they all helped me - the Nutrisystem re-taught me to eat small meals 6 times a day, the Noom course helped me feel better psychologically when dealing with food stress, the Keto taught me no white foods and how to control my carb intake. It took me over a year to get my weight down twenty pounds. But every time I deviated; I would just go back to 1200 calories.
Now I follow the Whole 30 food list most of the time and try to stay around 1200 calories. It works!

So good to be able to come back to Obesity Help to review My Journey and for assistance with questions. We've settled into the retirement life style now, living in Yuma, AZ part of the year and somewhere else in our RV the remainder of the year. I don't have any issues with Vagal Nerve Syndrome fainting now, able to control the severity of the vomiting on the rare occasions when it occurs. Having more of an issue now with low blood sugars when I don't eat frequently enough. Need intake every 3 hours or so, especially if I'm being active. There is so much to do in Yuma, many friends to visit, food to eat! Easy to settle into a snacking mode of living. Just feel heavy lately, clothes tight. Again.... would like to lose back to my post surgery wt. Looking into some options, will try the 5 day pouch test after new years since it was helpful in the past. Have joined Curves to start getting more exercise, my nemesis. Happy New Years everyone!![]()

A few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to see if I could lose some more wt. Funny how after the surgery you feel so thin, then as time goes on you realize that you still might be the heaviest person in the room! Currently having a protein shake in the am, a regular lunch, and a Dr. Oz type health shake for dinner [juiice, fruit, protein powder, whey, fish oil, psyllium, chia seed, wheat germ]. If I get hungry between meals I have some fruit. Eating out once every 4 days or so.
Have lost 5 #'s! Feels good, the lowest I've been in 5 years. It hasn't been that hard, especially since my husband is following about the same plan. Would like to get back to my post surgical weight of 162, we'll see.
Nice to know that with persistance and patience I can still lose. Of course, the trick will be keeping it off! Our age old struggle. But, now that we've lost so much this would just be icing on the cake! Oh dear, I shouldn't have mentioned cake!
