My Weight loss Expedition

Apr 10, 2007

Hey WLS family!

April 15, 2006

Wow it has been along time since I updated my profile. I have been busy living a life that I never thought I could have. I am a solid size 12 and weighting about 180. I am extremely happy with my weightloss.

I have spent so much money on clothes that my hubby had to repo my credit card. I spent like 10,000 in two months.

The only real problem I have is that I am not going to the gym. I joined a gym in Dec and went for like three weeks right before we went to JA. We had a great time in Montego Bay JA.

That is all for now.
Bye

I am down to 225, which huge for me. I never thought I would get to this size. It has not been an easy process. I still go to Weight Watchers. I still long to numb myself on hot wings, or ribs, but the band doesn't allow me to do that. I can wear a size 14 now..the last time I was in a size 14 I was in 5th grade.. bye for now

I am down about 6 more pounds since I last updated. Having the band is not an easy out. The weight loss is great but it is tough.

It has been a while since I updated my profile. I am sorry for being inconsiderate to pre-op friends. I know before I had my surgery, I loved to read profiles. So I will try to up-date mine regularly.

I was banded on Dec 23,2003. It was an outpatient procedure. Luckily no problems with the surgery. I was woke-up from surgery I felt like I wanted to barf but there was nothing in my stomach. That feeling lasted for about 30 minutes. It was terrible but it didn't last forever.

I have only lost a total of 50 pounds. Apparently, my port had flipped and I didn't have any restriction. That was the reason I could eat most anything.

This is the start of my real weight loss.
Today, June 4,2004, I have had my port repositioned and my gallbladder taken out. This procedure was also an outpatient procedure. My insurance company paid for the gallbladder removal and the doctor repositioned my port at the same time. My weight loss has still been very slow to this point.

Today is October 11, 2004. I have lost 16 pounds in 2 weeks. I had my frist fill since the operation to reposition my port.

I have real restriction now. I barely eat anything. After about two bits of anything I am full beyond belief. I guess this is how the band is suppose to work. My focus is finally off food. Now I am searching for something to make me happy the way I used food to.

Today is December 1st, 2004 I am so happy with my weight loss. My friend didn't even recognize me yesterday. I have gotten my hair cut shorter and of course I have loss weight.I am about the same weight but my clothing fit me like tents. I am wearing a size 18/16 now....that is a great change from a size 24. It is time for a fill since I have been at this weight and not losing for about 2 weeks. My bandiversary is coming up and I would like to be in a size 14 by that date. That might be hard to accomplish since the date in only3 weeks away.

For Thanksgiving I make sure that I didn't make Collard Greens because I love them so much I would have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

.

Today is November 27, 2003...Thanksgiving Day. Wednesday while shopping my daughter told me that somebody called my cell phone Tuesday. She said it was the insurance company. I was excited to know if they were approving my surgery. So I called their office right there in Old Time Pottery. GOOD NEWS...THEY APPROVED ME.

LISTEN UP FOLKS... my insurance policy has an exclusion that doesn't pay for any type of weight procedure or treatment. The nurse Dr. Jawad's office really gave me little hope..she was wrong.I sent UHC a letter and they approved me. SO NO MATTER WHO TELLS YOU NO ...YOU MUST KEEP TRYING FOR YOUR SURGERY.

Today is August 3rd,2003, I have my very first consultation with Dr. Jawad. I had a real scare Friday when I called the office to see if I needed my primary's approval to be seen by Dr. Jawad. Lisset (Dr. Jawad's appointment scheduler) told me that I did indeed need my primary's approval. I then replied that no one had told me. I tried to call my primary's office but, of course they were closed on Friday....

I just knew something would go wrong and I wouldn't be able to see Dr. Jawad and would have to wait another month for an appointment. I was very upset and decided to call my insurance company to see if they could approve the consulation.

To my surprise ...I have the choice plan and don't need to get anybody's approval to see ANY doctor. I can even see a specialist without any referral.

WOW, how surprised was I...

Ok today August 27th I got my first denial letter. I appealed that decision and won.

Insurer Info:
United Health Care Choice, 123781234
Denied the first time then I mailed them a personal letter and letters from my primary, surgeon and a psych eval...a couple weeks later...they approved me.
