Just read your posting about eating fast. My husband has the same problem. We both had open rny's but I manage to eat slowly, but then I always did. I was always the last one to finish a meal. I got some tiny spoons and cocktail forks and now that is what I give my sweetie to use to eat his food. I even give him toothpicks to use for cheese. I cut the cheese in itsy-bitsy squares and he eats with the toothpick. Sometimes he even uses the toothpick for his yogurt. It takes a long time to eat yogurt that way!!! Also, be sure to put your fork or spoon down on the table between bites. That seems to slow my DH down too. Meals are not a race anymore. Of course, he does get mad at me sometimes when I remind him to slow down, but I am doing it for his own good. I know how much it hurts inside when a person who has had this surgery eats too fast. I wish you all the best!! It looks like you are doing a great job so far. I am going to leave you a msg from my DH too. Please read his profile. It is wonderful. (LA MESA, CA.)

Bruce, I am going through sort of the same thing as you. I am 4 weeks post-op today. One meal I can eat Wendy's chili, no problem, next meal-up it comes. I am going slighly crazy, thank God for string cheese and sugar free pudding. I hear that after 6-8 weeks post-op, things get better, I hope so. Anyway, take care of yourself and if you get any super words of wisdom, please forward them to me at EllenHaas2001@yahoo.com Thanks and I hope you have a Good Day and a Happy New Year.

Bruce, *wow* 50lbs in 5 weeks is fabulous! Don't worry about not losing for a week or two here and there, its annoying but your body just needs to rest sometimes. I had my first plateau at 3 weeks post-op! I know its really weird but when you stop losing weight you usually start losing inches. I still have trouble getting my head around that one! *laugh* Hang in there!

Hey Bruce, I had Open RNY on 4/25/01 and it took me a couple of months to get fully get my energy back. Now at nearly 8 months post op, I can barely sit still for more than 5 minutes at a time. Have patience, it will get better! Best of luck on your continuing journey.

Hi Bruce, you will get your energy back just be patient!! Look at how long it took for you to get so low in energy. It will come back in droves!! You will not know what to do with all the energy you will have. I feel like a new person after 5 mos. (DOUGS WIFE!!) (LA MESA, CA.)
