I am a single mom of three beautiful children and as we all know with pregnancy comes weight. I was able to lose the weight for a while and then it all came back an then some. I had been told by the people I knew and some I loved that I was gaining weight, got the little fat comments like, do you really need to eat that or they would poke me and tell me wow my finger just got lost in your rolls, oh and then there was my nickname tundra.
I moved to Florida in '04 and I got a little bored and sad and food became my friend especially at night, I was 118lbs when I moved here, and soon I was, almost, 190lbs.
Because I gained so much weight my health started going down and energy was low. I felt like a embarrassment to my children, I was sloppy and fat.
I then decided to try dieting and to no avail that failed miserably and then I decided to do the lapband in Dec. of '06 I tried and because I had medicare I had to jump thru hoops. I tried 3 docs before I found one, Dr. Overcash.
Dr. Overcash was honest and to the point and was happy to answer any question I had once he recieved my medical records I got a call telling me he was ready and all I had to do was schedule the procedure, oh because of genetics, (high chol. and trigly. and a previous lap nissen) I had to get the gastric bypass (that was scary). I waited and prayed and scheduled my surgery, I had it on 9-12-07.
I am 19 days out and let me tell you, I vaguely remember the 2.5 days in the hospital, lol, I was pretty high, but I do remember the nurses coming in every 2 hours and people in between, they were great!! Once I was home, I felt horrible...I am feeling much better today but I still have no appeitite and have found that I apparently can not tolerate chicken cause my stomach hurts afterwards and I have to throw up. BUT I HAVE LOST 15LBS.....
I must say I have to thank God for all he has done for me and allowing for me to get the surgery, and I am thankful for this site and the wonderful people who have given me advice it has been a blessing.
