Welcome to my journey, an intro to me...hi I am Cheryl...I am 48 yrs young, my highest weight was in February 2008 at which time I weighed 378 lbs and am 5' 4"...I cannot remember a time that I weighed less than 200 lbs...after discussing this with my Mom we decided by the age of 14 I was already over the 200 mark...I will state for the record I never intended to be this fat, in other words it wasn't a goal I just loved eating and have always been an awesome cook...not an excuse however my fat never got in the way of life...I dated in high school, married, had children, divorced due to an abusive spouse, remarried had more children, divorced due to growing apart, and finally remarried 10 yrs ago to an awesome man, Paul, who even after 10 yrs puts me above everything else in life...so why RNY and why now...this last 100 lbs have made me very aware of my fat...I have to ask for a table instead of a booth, sugar began making me feel weird and sometimes made me sleepy (beginning of diabetes), I got an awful yeast infection around Thanksgiving 07 and couldn't get to the gyno until Feb 08 and was placed on diflucin every three days for several months and found out that taking care of my female body parts was insanely hard, and my knees and back hurt all the time...about 12 yrs ago I watched a program about bypass and around the same time had a friend die due to complications while having bypass so I totally put it out of my head...then 2 yrs ago I lost my job and while at home I would occasionally look up information about bypass...I found out I was classified as morbidly obese with a bmi of 64...I can say the following...I love myself and I have an awesome personality and am one of the friendliest most upbeat ppl I know...but I also know that I will not live much longer at this weight...so in April 08 my Mom & I went to a seminar in Springdale Ar given by Dr Roller and was immediately convinced this was the right thing for me...it has been a whirlwind of activities since then...meeting insurance criteria and getting all the tests done...I have spent the past 3 months changing the way I feel & look at food and getting myself prepared for all the changes so I will be another success story...my family is very supportive and my Mom joined the gymn with me and we go every day for water aerobics...I have a surgery date set for 8/27/08 and decided after I got home from the gymn today it was finally time to begin telling my story...I hated typing my weight that will not always be, I cried thru all the before/after pics and cannot wait to be in them, I was soooo happy for everyone...and I am scared right now...I can do this...I will be thin and healthy...thank you for listening!
