1/3/2005 - I'm not sure how this "posting" thing works, but here goes. I started on this journey with a visit to my surgeon's office on 12/21/04. Because of the insurance that I have (effective 1/1/05) I was told there would be "no worries" in getting approved. Hopefully that will be the case. Anyway, I went to my surgeon's office and was there 1/2 the day. We had an orientation, then met with the doctor individually, then sat down with the office manager who gave me a tentative date of 2/3/05! I did have a rather unpleasant experience though while I was there. As we were getting up from the orientation, one of the other participants looks at me and almost snarled "I don't know what you are doing here! I'd give anything to be your size!" Her viciousness really took me back and I started to say something equally ugly, but thought better of it. I just looked at her and said "well, you know what? You see that girl up there (that was walking in the cross walk in front of us and was very thin), well I'd give anything to be her size, so I guess it's all relative." And I smiled and walked off. I'm not sure why she attacked me like that. Am I as large as she is, no. But I'm still classifed as morbidly obese just the same. So she may have 200+ to lose, but I have 100+ to lose. Anyway, I thought that was an interesting exchange of words. :-)
Since my insurance was changing the first of January, the doctor's office was going to wait until this week to send in my letter. Hopefully it will go as they think and I will get my approval soon! Wish me luck.
