My reasoning for wanting the RNY was to hopefully lose weight to walk with a cane. I was in a terrible head on car accident February 2008 and shattered my hip. I was put back together with a steel plate and 5 screws. I was told because I was overweight not to put any weight on hip or I would break it. So here I am getting bigger and bigger from hip surgery, confined to walking with a walker and then I asked if I could try crutches. The doctor said yes and have been walking with crutches since July 2008. My aunt had the surgery and that got me thinking of doing this also. I thought what better way to help myself with walking and hopefully lose some weight. So I went thru the mental health therapy and the other classes before my surgery and on November 30, 2009, I was finally in the hospital having the RNY!!
On June 10, 2010, I went into my 6 month appointment was was shocked I lost 80lbs since my surgery and overall weight I had lost 100lbs!! I still wear my clothes but people tell me that I should invest in new pieces since the ones I wear are becoming baggier and baggier each day.
