Well, my bypass surgery was completed on Friday. I'm still pretty sore, but getting stronger every day. I'm excited to start losing! I'm still pretty bloated but I'm told that will go away after about a week.

So, I visited my surgeon today with the full intention of getting the lap band surgery; by the time I left I changed my mind. I think my biggest fear was losing my hair. The more the surgeon talked about how to the "features and benefits" of each I decided to go with gastric bypass. I'm impatient by nature and I could see myself getting really frustrated if I didn't hit my target weight (well over 100 lbs. to lose) with banding.

My surgery date is November 6th - YAY!!

I am really excited to start this journey.  My daughter and I have been attending the required 6 month program and just finished month 5, we're doing this as a team. We've decided to have the lap band surgery and have scheduled the pre-surgery appointment with our surgeon. I get so motivated when I look at all of the before & after pics on this site and read all of the stories. I'm so anxious to get my life back. I've made some really bad choices over the last 20+ years and can't wait to look and feel good again!

My first big step was to quit smoking - tomorrow will mark that 1 month milestone!
