I have been overweight all of my life. Chubby child. Plus size in high school and so on and so on. I too have tried pretty much every diet pill, diet and program. But for the first time I have decided to do something surgically. I had worked with patients post operatively,  who had bypass surgery. It wasn't pretty. So even though just 2 yrs ago, when the doctor suggested I look into Bariatric surgery, I said never, ever.
Well, it just hit me one day. And I decided to check into getting the gastric band. I went to a support meeting. I put my plan into action. However, when I went for my first visit with Dr. Greene, he explained that with my diabetes, I needed a faster weight loss. He in no way tried to change my mind, merely give me all my options. Before our meeting was over I had decided to have the RNY. I the attended one of their support groups.
My insurance is BCBS FEP, so I am not anticipating any problems with approval.

On the day of my visit, I weighed 374. I have been on the diet for 9 days. My BMI is 60.

I have all of my pre-surgery appointments scheduled. I have had my sleep study and now have to be fitted for CPAP. I only need my pulmonary screen, endoscopy and ekg. That's all next week, as is my nutritionist visit and exercise visit.
