Hello my story is similar to most people on this site ... I am 42 years old ... currently weight 245 which is considered morbidly obese. I have struggled with my weight since the age 13. I remember at the age of 16 walking past a mirror and wondering who was that fat lady following me. IT WAS ME! I remember Oprah saying she did the same thing. Well at that point I started to starve myself Io st weight because I decided to do it the best way I knew how .. I walked to school everyday which was about 7 miles. I ate potato chips drink a diet soda and that was it. My mother was concerned with how fast I was losing she tried to make me eat .. but, in my mind food was the enemy. ( back then we did not have the knowledge about eating disorders etc. at that time the Internet was not available to everyone.)  I went from 180lbs to 135lbs in about a month... I had a few fainting spells ... I learned to drink water and that helped me through the day.
Then I started to get too much attention from men grown men it scared me! I was only 16! I keep the weight off until I was about 20 i started to gain I would take over the counter drugs.  Then I started dieting all the  time I would lose 20 and gain 40 soon I was back to 180lb at 25 then I had my beautiful daughter... I am currently bigger than when I was prego ... after years of unsuccessful dieting have been on diet pills, weight watcher, fasting, and liquid diets. I lost weight on all of the diets... however, my brain forgets to let me know how to keep it off..... this is where the wonderful invention of the lap band will help me... I can follow a diet and lose weight the lap band will be a tool to remind me to how to keep it off!

I went to my surgeon office visit today and DR. Rantis made me feel comfortable ... he explained everything to me. I am confident in him doing my surgery. He said he would be glad to be my surgeon, he is confident I will do well with the Lap Band.
I have been researching this procedure for 2-3 years. Thanks to the Internet I am able to see the surgery done live.  I have never had any type of surgery .. so I was very apprehensive at first ... but my butt keeps getting bigger and bigger . so, I got of my fears of being put to sleep and I am ready for my new body and new life.  my BMI meets the insurance and now I have to see a nut, psychologist and another doc.... anyway I am ready to start right now ... in fact I can't wait to start my diet ... but I want to make sure my insurance is approved before I start dropping weight. I am exactly 40 bmi if I lose 2lbs the insurance might deny me.... But I don't think I have much to worry about.. I am so excited . I thank God that I don't have any health problems and I don't want any either.  My mother had the RNY about 3 years ago and she lost 100lbs she is healthy  and looks great for her age. I don't think WLS is a quick fix especailly not the Lap Band.. I think it is a wonderful invention tool that helps people to get control of their weight and maintain a healthy weight if they follow the doctors order complication are possible but unlikely. So move over loser bench you will soon have another loser
