Anniversary Date just passed
Jan 10, 2011
I just got a reminder email from this sight asking me to update my profile cause my anniversary just passed. I am 2 yrs post op and am not doing good as far as weight loss. I was down 65 lbs at one point and am only 40 lbs down now. I recently got my fifth fill with the fourth having to be taken out. This time I am losing and am able to hold some things down. Had the 4th fill taken out because I couldn't even hold down water and was scared I would get dehydrated. But this one is better.
I don't want anyone to get discouraged after reading that my weight loss hasn't been very good. Most of it is my fault I'm sure. The first 4 months after surgery I worked out faithfully everyday just about, then I plateaued and got discouraged. I stopped working out. My diet for the past 2 yrs has consisted of chips and queso and not much else, just simply because I can't hold anything down, especially meat. I figured out I wasn't losing because what I am eating is high in calories. I have since cut out a lot of the things I was eating, mainly chips and dip and the pops. I am the typical example of someone not working the band.
People ask if it is worth it. I tell them for me is it is. It is definitely life changing. And even though I haven't had the results most poeple do I am tickled to death to be able to go to Wal-Mart and buy clothes again. I haven't done that in years. To go into a clothing store and try something on and it be too big is an awesome feeling.
My doctor has told me that I may be one of the few that the band doesn't work for but I still have faith that it will once I begin to work it right and do my part. I haven't given up yet.

I have lost right at 50lbs with my band. Thought I would have lost more by now but I have only had 3 fills so far. Probably shoulda gotten another by now but I am still spitting up after my last fill in July. I think I've hit another plateau and not sure how to push thru it. Anyone have any suggestions?

2 weeks out

Well I'm 2 weeks post op and feeling great. I made it thru the 2 wks of liquids and now am moving on to soft foods. Will be great to get some "real food." I am still having problems gettin enough water and protein in each day but I think I am doing better.
The soreness is completely gone and I am doing just about everything I did before surgery again. I'm down 21 lbs so far and am looking forward to start working out this week. Hopefully that will pull more off before I go back for my first follow up on the 29th. I'm excited to see how much I have lost according to the doctor's scales.
