3 month check up Good news

Mar 15, 2010

Wow on Friday I had my 3 month check up with my surgeon and they are really pleased he says he has not had a sleeve patient with such good results ....at last a success at something!! lol
No complications from the surgery I have followed their instructions to the letter and managed to lose 27kilos ( i think there is something wrong with my scales at home ) I can tell you I haven't stopped smiling since my life has changed so much in the last 3 months. I have so much more energy and i got myself a full time job and I mean full time, 55 hours a week but I love it and I haven't worked full time for about 7 years ...because I couldn't manage it  the only downside of my check up is I have a vitamin D deficency but as the consultant said I am white, English and we never see the sun in the UK so no surprise really just need to have an injection every 3 months.

Everyday gets a little better

Dec 19, 2009

For the first time since surgery I have had a comfortable nights sleep and what a difference it makes
last night I had a shower and changed the dressings on my incisions , 1 of which is a little sore and inflamed , and felt better but another problem seems to have emerged ......I am quite teary and had a real sob on my husband for no real reason ...so I guess it was just a release as I don't feel depressed or that I have made a wrong decision and the pain is manageable and most of the time just really more of a discomfort .....so that's all I can put it down to
and on another note finally a bowel movement  ........and then some!!!

It's done and I'm home!

Dec 16, 2009

Well it wasn't as bad as I expected I was nervous about going under general anaestetic well all I remember was looking at the clock as they put the mask on at 8.45 am on monday morning and the next thing I knew it was 10.40 and I was in recovery and told I had been there for almost 40 mins as I came round.. Back on the ward I wasn't allowed any fluids for 24 hours just water to wet my lips I found this the hardest part but the next morning  I was given blue dye to sip and hurray no leaks so I was allowed water it took all my willpower not to gulp at this point but the mantra of my sleeve sisters was ringing in my ears ...sips ,sips, and only sips and as my asthma needed monitoring they kept me in another night but this morning the drain was removed......  again not as bad as expected ...and I was told I could go home and start my new life with my new sleeve and the great news is I am already down 15lbs about 7or8 was pre-op diet and they have stopped one of my blood pressure medications forever so like is certainly looking up already
thanks for all your support and prayers
