update
Apr 09, 2008
...........well I guess it's been a while since my last post. the holiday's have come and gone. I did pretty good. I've discovered that I can eat most anything. I have gone through a 2 month stall. The scale has finally started to move again. I lost another 6lbs. I'm at 302lbs.....just can't seem to break out of the 300's..........I fell off the exercise train for a while, but I hopped back on and I've been pretty consistant with it the last month........I guess that it for now.......the journey continues..............
progress----update

.........I really need to be a little more consistant with my posting I suppose.......anyway here is the latest scoop on me and my weight loss. I jumped on the scale on monday the 12 and I weight 319lbs, down from 397lbs at the day of surgery. I don't remember the last time I was less than 350lb.........I'm glad the scale is moving again. I had a 4 week stall in September and major hair loss! I increased my protein and started aggressively working out at the gym. I do cardio 5-6 days a week and weight train 5 days a week. I think I can actually see some muscle tone in my arms! I also measured myself, and I seem to be losing the most inches in the lower half of my body now, which is a relief. The thunder thighs must go!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess thats all for now.........til the next time!.........
3 month Dr's visit
Sep 19, 2007
I went to the Dr.'s on Aug. 31st and I had lost a total of 60lbs since my surgery date of June 6th. My labs all came back great. My potassum was on the low side of normal, so I have to take some potassum pills for a week and have my level re-tested. I am full of energy and have up my exercise routine to include strength training. I've lately gotten into the habit of snacking in between meals which is a big NO NO! I'm back on track now and I have increased my fluid intake. I have incorporated fruit juices and fresh fruit into my diet to help with the occasional constipation issues. It seems to do the trick! Not much else going on. I can actually get into some of my size 26-28 clothes. The weight seems to easily come off the top half of me, but big butt and thighs don't seem to lose. Hopefully, with the strength training I will get some results in those areas. Well I guess that's all for now...................................................................................
2 month 2 day update
Aug 08, 2007
Well its been two months now since surgery and what a ride! I was cleared at one month to add cooked veggies and non-citrus fruit to the diet.....that definitely adds lots more variety to my meals. I'm doing well I feel. I still have issues with chewing my food enough....my pouch definitely lets me know when I haven't chewed sufficiently!-----ouch! I'm still searching for the "right protein drink" still haven't found one that I really like. I'm doing the Profect bullets, which I have to dilute because they are too sweet. I got on the scale today and I am at 348 lbs. That is 49 lbs lost in two months! I am much more mobile and I'm walking about a mile, 5 days a week (I started taking the bus to work---it's about a half mile from the bus stop to my office building; great exercise and saves on gas too!). My chronic back pain is now at a dull roar....some days I don't have any pain at all! I get to incorporate a regular exercise routine, so I am going to get some free weights and start muscle toning 4 days a week. I've seemed to have lost weight in my face, shoulders, chest (not much breast mass, just stomach and back) I think my thighs are going to be the last and toughest to lose. .................Well, thats my story so far-------Till the next time!
2 WEEK POST OP CHECK UP
Jun 21, 2007
I had my 2 week check up on Tuesday with Dr. B and I doing great. The only snag is that one of my incisions is still draining fluid. I now have to pack the wound with gauze every day. So I get to play Dr. on myself! (minds out of the gutter!) I have lost 20 lbs in 14 days! I am still experimenting with the protein drinks, trying to find one that I can live with. I think I will go with the Profect. I can get in the 64-72oz of water a day, I just dont want to add on top of that the extra protein drinks right now. As far as food is concerned, I haven't had any problems. Everything seems to go down just fine. I can't wait until I can have some veggies! I so tired of just eating eggs, and meat!
Till the next time,
Carolina
post surgery update
Jun 09, 2007
I guess I really need to be a little more consistant with posting......well, I'm got home from the hospital on Friday 6/8/07. I feel pretty good. No gas pains or pain of any kind. I haven't had to take pain meds since the day of surgery. Dr. Blackstone said that my surgery really made her work. Apparently, I had a lot of scar tissue and adhesions (sp) from the galblader surgery I had some 20 years ago. My surgery took 3 hours, but Dr. B said everything went fine. I'm fighting the fatigue right now. I keeping up the schedule I had in the hospital, with walking every 2 hours and drinking lots of water. getting all the water in is a challenge, since I have yet to get the art of sipping down. .......I'm off to my lunch of broth and jello...till the next time...
New date!
Apr 07, 2007
It's been quite a while since I've updated......here is the new scoop.....I actually got a new surgery date! I don't have to wait until September. I have been scheduled for June 6th. I am too excited and a litle scared too, it is major, life changing surgery, after all!
update
Mar 06, 2007
Dr. Blackstone has a personal family emergency that forces her to cut back her surgery schedule so my date has been moved out to Sept. 9th. I'm a little disappointed but a few more months really is nothing compared to the years I've spent overweight. I see the positive in this; it will allow me to continue my exercise regime and improve my eating habits by weaning myself from eating so many carbs. (I just love those potatoes, rice, and bread!). Hopefully I will lose more than the 40 lbs the Dr. want's me to lose.
