WOW It's been six months.

Jul 21, 2009

I can't beleive it. I'm down 110#'s so far, but the last 10 has been very hard. I lose 2 then gain 3, then lose 4 and gain 2. I can't figure it out. I'm walking daily 1-3 miles now and still up and down up and down. I'm getting a little discouraged. Some times it seems when I cheat I do better in the weight loss column. Any one have any ideas?

Post surgery

Jan 22, 2009

Surgery went really well. The RNY was supposed to take 4 hours but Dr. Verseman and his PAC Karen did a wonderful job and they finished up in 2. I was on my feet three hours after surgery, granted it was only to transfer into bed. I did get up late evening for around an hour and a half and sat in a chair. On Tues. I was able to walk in the hall several times and I passed my swallow test without problems. I started on clear liquids. Oh that was so good cause I felt so dry. Next would come burping and farting. I skipped right from burping to having a BM. Yeah I passed all the tests so now I could go home on Wed. morning. Now that I am home I found that things aren't quite as easy as I want them to be. I need to remember to take my pain meds as needed because I tend to try and put mind over matter and that doesn't always work. I feel great and I am started on my new life. Thank you to all who have prayed and have supported me in any way. Have a great day! I know I will.

LIQUID DIET

Jan 03, 2009

Happy new year everyone! I started the liquid diet yesterday. i kept craving chips and salsa. Will I be able to eat that after surgery? Eventually?? This week is going to be very busy getting ready. Monday I work my 12 hours, then Monday night I need to be NPO for my swallow esophagus study. Tues 8 am at the hosp. for the study, then to the sureons office, then to the dietician, then an appointment for my pre-op testing. Wed. I work, Thurs. work related meetings, Fri. PCP appt.  I think that will about do it. I at least have the weekend off before surgery. I don't know if that is good or bad. I just want to keep busy. Does anyone have any suggestions as for how to get through this two weeks?

exciting times

Dec 28, 2008

I am getting soooo excited to get on with he rest of my life! I can't wait till Jan. 19. I think I will be starting my liquid diet a little early as I want to be in the best shape I can for OR. Anyone have any suggestion for what type of protein to use? I have the impact that my Doc wants me to use but am a little confused with what to use as my main source, there are soooo many out there.
I was just reading someone elses blog and they commented that they were melting away. I can't wait till that happens to me. I was thinking today about our mission trip that we go on every spring break and how much better I will be able to tolerate the heat and the work that needs to be done with all the weight off from me at that time. I know though I will have plenty more to go to get to my goal.  In some ways this seems so unreal, I will actually be able to not only lose weight but I will be able to keep it off.

Thanks for all who are supporting me through all of this.-julie

The date is coming up fast

Dec 14, 2008

WOW -- Merry Christmas every one!  This last month has flown it is hard for me to beleive that I will be starting my pre liquid diet in two weeks. Yum yum.  My new life starts with the new Year I can't wait for my chest measurment to be bigger than my waist! My hubby is still a little scared. He is afriad that I'll lose the weight then lose him. How have others dealt with this? I Know that the divorce rate is high post bariatric and I don't want to be in that statistic.
