One Month Out and Adjusting

Nov 06, 2007

Hey all. I am a month out now and adjusting well to the surgery. I admit I have gotten sick to my stomach three times. I had to buy a timer and set it so that I would not eat too fast. Anything greasy makes me sick...other than that I am great. I am down 20.5 pounds and feeling really good about myself. I am taking time each week to exercise...focus on the foods I am eating...counting my protein...that sorta stuff. I hope all of you are doing great. Will keep you posted as I go.

My husband is very loving and supportive and I was down on myself today about the fact that I have not yet started working out consistenly. Here is what he sent me:

Cheryl,

I want to let you know how special you are to me and to thank you for everything that you do.  I know that with all of the feeding, clothing, washing, cleaning, walking, wiping, and teaching that you do everyday leaves little time for just us.  I can't explain to you the joy that you bring to me when I come home from work and see you sitting on the couch holding Jaimesen and acting as if you hadn't done a single thing all day when I can look around the house and see all of the hard work that you put into it.  Your selfless devotion and commitment to our family is unparallel.

Now is the time that you must take to improve yourself.  You know that you have to start consistently exercising 5 days a week.  You need to set a realistic, attainable goal and strive to meet them.  We will support you 100%.  We will help and support you even if it means coming home early, staying later, getting up on the weekends and giving you time to yourself so that you can workout.  We will exercise with you, or stand on the sidelines and cheer you on as you pass by us on the way to your goal.  You are a beautiful, intelligent, charming, funny, and devoted woman.  I  can't describe to you how proud I am of you in your decision to become a healthier, stronger woman.  We understand that success does not happen overnight but it will happen.  I believe that and I hope that you do as well.  With all my love, understanding and devotion….

Drew

I am a lucky woman and if this isn't the motivation I need to get going, then I don't know what is. Hope all are having a great week.

Just got a phone call from the Bariatric Program Coordinator. I have scheduled my first meeting with Dr. McDevitt for next Friday. I am so excited I can hardly sit still. Let's pray that it is a short time between now and then and that the days don't drag out.

Almost done with what seems like jumping through hoops

I know that all of the steps I have had to go through in order to make sure that I was a good prospective candidate are necessary and almost over. I will be setting up an appointment to meet with my surgeon next week. I am just like a kid at Christmas who is waiting to open there presents and whose parents aren't awake for them to do it yet. The anticipation is building and I find myself so giddy with excitement at the prospect of a new path to take in my life that I can hardly sit still. Let us hope the time between now and my surgery date ticks away fast. TA TA for now guys.
