My name is Carmela, I am a 28 year old female, married with one child. My son is 2 and the love of my life, well including my husband.

I never really seamed to have a weight problem through my childhood and high school. It was about the time I met my husband and was becoming less active. Something in me seamed to change. I mean more than the obvous, slowing down on the active lifestyle.I gained more and more each year. I had not had my son yet and was not a very lazy person, I just didn't understand.

It was arround the time my husband and I wanted to have a child that i finally found out my problem. I was diagnosed with pcos (polysystic ovarian syndrome). It can contribute to weight loss as well as not ovulating, or ovulating maybe only some months not all.Needless to say this was very upsetting to us. Being overweight alone can make it difficult to concteve let alone not dropping an egg every month.

To make a long story short after being put on medication and losing some(not a lot) of weight we finally got pregnate!!!(this was also after 2 failed in vitro and 3 failed iui's)

What does this have to do with my weight loss? Well, without trying to get pregnate I would have never found out about my pcos which helped me to realize where a lot of my weight came from and this also helped me to put my mind on more important things(my son). By doing this it also helped me to take whatever means necessary to become healthy and to be sure my son would still have a mother.

I weighed 235 pounds the day of surgery ans 2 months post op i am down to 197pounds. I still have a long way to go, but I already feel  more energetic and have more confidence in myself. This will be day by day but I know I can do it!!!
