I am truly upset.  Because of an insurance issue I am having to change doctors.  For me this is truly upsetting because of all that I have gone through thus far and now I am going to have to start all over again.  I was so excited to know that I would be having the surgery in March.  The only good thing about this is that when thinking about the surgery I had checked on another dr, but decided to go with Dr. McDevitt, one because I trusted him, and secondly because of the fact that he was right here in town.  Now I will have to go through MUSC which is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away.  I suppose this would be the silver lining that everyone keeps telling me to look for.  Till next time.

I am sooo excited!!!  Today I went in for my arthritis checkup and talked to Dr. Brittis about me having WLS.  He told me that I would have to wait on starting my Remicade treatments until after the surgery and otherwise I would only have to stop taking the methotrexate for a short amount of time and I would continue on the prednisone.  This is good news for me!!!!  I was really worried about his telling me that he would not give me his ok.  Now that that obstacle is over I have an appointment with the dietician and trainer on Tues.  Slowly, but surely I will get through this...M

     Hey everyone!   I really don't have alot to say at this moment.  I had an appointment last week to go in and talk to the nutritionist and the physical trainer.  Unfortunately earlier in the week I fell and sprained my ankle.  I had to call and reschedule the appointment and now I will not get to talk to them until the first of Jan.  Bummer.  I hate the waiting aspect of all of this.  My hubby doesn't get home until March and I have to wait on him before I can have it.  
     Although I do not enjoy the wait I am still learning things.  Today I posted what I felt was a stupid question.  Will I lose weight in my feet along with everywhere else?  For those who have responded they have told me that they all went down in shoe size.  Some went from a wide to a medium and some went from like a size 8 to a 7 1/2.  This is good information for me because now I know not to purchase any new shoes until later on.  
     Well until next time,  I am traveling home to Alabama for Christmas so I may not say anymore until I return home after the first of the year.  Merry Christmas and best wishes for a New Year...Monica

Well, I called Joyce today and asked what my first steps were.  She told me to bring in my paperwork and call and set up an appointment with the dietician and I would also need to talk with a trainer at the Life Wellness program at the hospital.  Since I am leaving on the 15th to travel home to Alabama for Christmas I will not be able to do anymore until after the first of the year.  I already have my authorization for the surgery and now it is a matter of how much I do things.  Even though I am not planning on having the surgery until my hubby returns from deployment in March.  I am staying on the messageboards and reading all I can to make sure I don't come across anything unexpected. 

Well, I have decided to have the surgery.  I am home for the holidays and have been talking to my family about the procedure.  Believe it or not, I am actually getting good feedback.   The turning point for me was when my mom n law started pulling out size 12 clothes and told me that I could have them when I got to that size.  How exciting to think that I might actually be that small one day.  Wish me luck and keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin testing to get the dr's final ok to have surgery....M

     Ok, I am feeling better about all of the information that I am learning about RNY.  Everyday I feel more confident about making the decision to have the surgery.  I am going home for Thanksgiving and when I get back I plan on calling to start the rest of the process to have the surgery.  This gives me another week to ponder my decision not to mention getting feedback from my family.  Wish me luck and if you have any comments then let me know...M
