Wondering will I qualify for WLS
Feb 03, 2012
I have being researching wls for a while now and wondering if I would qualify for it. I suffer from high blood pressure and when I say high I mean it. I was told from my doctor that I don't have what you would call a normal blood pressure. I am on two meds to help keep my blood pressure under control. For a year I tried diet meds and lost about 20lbs but now that I am no longer on them, the weight is slowly coming back.
My BMI at this moment is 37.0. I am just wondering with my high blood pressure will I qualify for wls. Will BCBS of GA HMO approve me? I have been struggling with my weight all my life and I am now mentally ready for a change. I have four kids (two we adopted ages 2 and 3); I want the energy to get out in the yard and be able to run and play with my kids. My family has a history of high blood pressure and diabetes. I have the high blood pressure I don't want diabetes too; which my mother and father had.
I know BCBS of GA HMO will help pay for the surgery; I just don't know with my BMI not being 40 will I qualify. I have been on the site for a couple of weeks now and all of you have shared some good information. I just wanted to know have any of you had the surgery with a BMI of less than 40 and your insurance approved it.
I resides in Georgia would love to get some local feedback; but any feedback is welcome.
Thanks for taking the time out to read my posting. I hope you all have a great Saturday.
