9 days post banding

Apr 08, 2007

Feeling very good - finally got the eating/drinking thing figured out.   I was confused when I first came home, because it seemed like they gave us soooo much to drink in the hospital.   After the first few days, liquids started going down a lot easier.     I on the full liquid diet now, and doing great.  Have lost 27 lbs. since the 29th... the day before surgery. THAT is amazing to me.  It has been slowing down of courst as I up the liquids and types of liquids.

I am VERY happy I had the lap-band surgery, and am already feeling so good!     I know every step is an adjustment.... but I am looking forward to each transition.

My husband doesn't know exactly what to do.... he had Easter Dinner today by himself, and wanted to be able to give me something - so he pureed some candied yams.    They didn't go down too well, and I only had two small bites with a baby spoon.   But at least he felt better.  I had 8 oz. of skim milk at lunch time - for some reason that fills me up sooooo much!!

Finally

I guess the time went fairly fast - though it seemed to be creeping by so slowly while I was waiting.     I was banded on last Friday, Marcch 30th, now am home just trying to get used to how much to drink all the time, and how much walking I can get in.

I feel good - glad I don't have to go to work tomorrow (or any day for that matter).   I have friends who had the banding done in Mexico on Friday, and flew home and were back at work on Monday.   Hah!!  Not me!!

My only confusion now is how much to drink at one time.   A nurse at the hospital gave me some 30 cc cups and said only drink that much in an hour... but that sure won't get 64-80 oz. of water in per day!!    And the meals they brought in the hospital seemed like soooo much to try to get down!  That was hard.
Well, now I'm tired and going back to bed!

It's a Date!

Mar 06, 2007

Called Dr. B's office yesterday, and was told they were just waiting for the Psych Eval.    I reminded them I had it last October, and it is in the file.  After checking, she said okay.... ready to schedule.

I will be banded on the 30th of March.   Seems like such a long way off, but then, it actually works out good, timing wise, because of a bunch of other things happening this month.     Now I am reading all I can, and going to be getting the house stocked with my liquids for the after surgery nutrition plan.     VERY excited, wish it was tomorrow!

Waiting anxiously

Feb 28, 2007

Been waiting to hear a schedule date.  Have done everything - and the doctor's office is backed up with paperwork.   Very anxious!!   Now am questioning whether I should have the Lap-Band as originally scheduled or the RNY.    Start weight is 303, but all my medical problems (heart disease, diabetes, congestive heart failure, sleep apnea, blood clots)....seem to warrant a quicker weight loss that comes with RNY.  Though my husband is concerned about the complication rate with the RNY..... and feels that all those same medical problems warrant an easier surgery...   That was the original reason for the Lap-Band decision.

Last I heard, they were scheduling for mid-March.   Seems like so long since I started the process (last Oct.) that I want it NOW.   Had a scare a few weeks ago.... additional medical problems that looked like I had kidney failure.  I was concerned over the kidney failure issue.... and even more so that it might stop my surgery....A week of sweating over that one, and found it was not kidney failure.  YEAH!
