I am in my thirty's with a couple of kids and very tired of being overweight. I could only hope to someday be healthy enough to enjoy what life has to offer. I am wondering how hard it is to get approval from Medicaid. I have severe sleep apnea ,joint problems gerd, and angina. I know this insurance thing is going to be a struggle, every time I call no one seems to have a clue about bariatric surgery only that it is covered.
1-13-06 Well tonight I start my journey. The weight loss seminar from WBI was very informative. I can't wait to get this ball rolling.
7-17-06 Today I finished my packet for WBI. I did have problems getting a straight answer from medicaid about which facilities are covered. No one over the phone seemed to know, I even tried their web site. I can tell insurance is going to be a battle.
7-18-06 I actually turned in my packet. Maybe now they will schedule me an apt.
7-27-06 Got called back today by surgeons office, the lady who works there told me I need a psych eval and nutrition eval before I can schedule apt with them. I've seen the psych already. So nutrition apt is scheduled for 8-7-06.
8-3-06 My nutrition apt got moved to today. It went well but I'm a little worried with the 10% I have to lose before surgery and the liquid diet seems expensive.
8-10-06 I am starting to get frustrated with WBI. I keep calling to see if they have all my info so I can get an apt with surgeon. I still haven't received a call back. Maybe I'll try e-mail.
8-23-06 Well I have been playing phone tag with WBI. I 'm still waiting to schedule an apt with surgeon. This whole process is very frustrating.
8-31-06 Great news I finally got a phone call scheduling me for an apt to see the surgeon. Unfortunately it's not until February, but better than nothing, I guess I'll have to wait .
11-06-06 This isn't funny but I have been having alot of problems with my gallbladder. It feels bad. alot of pain .So I see the surgon this week.
02-02-07 I had my gallbladder out in November. Now at least that feels better. I see Dr. Sasse next week for the consult. I'm really worried that insurance won't cover it though.
