Where to begin with my story ??? I guess I will start out with the basics. My name is Teresa, but I go by Dawn, which is my middle name and I am 38 years old. I have 2 sons. Charles Michael is 19 and William is 14. We live in Milledgeville,GA on Lake Sinclair. I have been divorced 2 times.
I have alot of health issues that I thought would hinder me in having the gastric bypass done.( I am a diabetic,high blood pressure( these are both controlled and are border line of me not having them despite my weight),Hep C which has causes my spleen to become enlarged and caused liver damage as well as enlarged liver,very low patelets, esophageal varices, portal hypertension). My doctor is awesome and so down to earth and has done his best to go ever everything with me and how and what would be done prior to surgery as well as during surgery. I don't think I could have asked for a better doctor!
I have always been on the fluffy side - then it went to chubby side - then it went to dbl chunky and now it's I am feeling like the side of a barn! It's like one day you look in the mirror and it hits you like a ton of bricks -- Is that really me ? Do I really look like the side of a big red barn ? How did I get to this weight ? I am ready to take my life back. I am ready to become a healthier me. I am ready to be able to do things with my kids. I am READY to start this life changing journey. I am at 371lbs. ** I cringe just at typing that** Before now I would have NEVER told my weight but I realize that now, I have to come to terms with my weight in order to be able to move forward. I am embarrassed at how big I have allowed myself to become but it's not the end of the world. I can and will take control back :)
My surgery is scheduled for April 11, 2011 and I can't wait! I have a ton of support from my friends and my family and of course from OH!
