FEBRUARY 2009
I have been overweight most of my adult life. It started with my first pregnancy and just continued. I had been on almost every diet and program you can imagine. Sometimes with short term success. Only to gain it back, usually with a few more pounds for good measure. I finally realized I could not do this anymore to myself, or to my family. The thought of what awaited me as I continue to get older, was frightening. I did not want to become a burden to my family. I wanted to enjoy the rest of my liife without being out of breath, tired all the time, and feeling generally lousy. Time to do something.....so I started on this journey with the considerable help and understanding of my family. I decided after alot of research to go to the Tufts New England Medical Center and Dr. Shikora. Everyone there was supportive and kind. I had surgery on December 9, 2008. The road has had a few bumps, but so far so good. I learn something new each day on the Obesity Help website and find the support here invaluable. I read the forums each day and am always feel like I am not alone ......on the road to better health. So far I have lost 57 pounds and it is going slow....
Hope it picks up soon!!!
