Here's my story. On June 6, 2006, I had gastric bypass surgery at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas. My insurance is Blue Cross Federal, and the surgeons were preferred providers's, so I ended up paying about $300 for the entire procedure. I had hypertension at the time, and I was 43 years old. I have now lost 120 lbs, and the weight loss has stalled. I would like to lose about 20 more lbs., so I'm taking Karate lessons and trying to watch intake on foods such as peanut butter (which goes down smoothly for me.) There are some things I have trouble digesting. They are sugared foods---sweets, white bread, and sometimes dairy products. I take a multivitamin with extra calcium every day, and I also use sublingual B12 once per week---need this not only for energy, but it's essential for a health nervous system.
I've been very fortunate that I don't have much extra skin even though I can foresee getting a tummy tuck. I'm close to getting a hysterectomy which I've put off for a couple of years, and my doctor told me I could get a tummy tuck at the same time. That's good news---just not ready for the hysterectomy yet.
I'm wearing a size 12 to 14, and I think a tummy tuck will get me in a solid size 12, and since I'm about 5'9" and I'm pretty big boned, I think I will be happy with that. Oh, and most importantly, i don't have hypertension anymore.
