It's Time for Change
Dec 11, 2010
I have been overweight most of my adult life. Most of it well over the 250 mark. Well now it's weigh over. My current weight is 279. I have been on the path for the surgery for quite some time I should say. Officially it has been since January of 2009. I went to the orientation. Then weeks of doctors visits to have my insurance company burst my bubble of weight loss in May of 2009. At that time I didn't have enough co morbidities. I felt betrayed by the insurance company because when I asked for the information about coverage I wasn't told about having a bmi over 40 for 5 years. Three out of the last five years were over 40 but it didn't matter.
I was hurt and angry and I gave up. Later that year a dear friend was blessed with having the gastric band. My friend was able to pay cash. I was routing for her. I was envious but glad she was able to get the surgery.
I tried again earler in 2010 to get the surgery done but the office that was handling my initial path was useless. I would call up to get informatiom and the girl wouldn't call me back for weeks.
My Maid of Honor had banding done in December of 09. The looks so good and I watched her process of the year she lost the weight and was soo happy for her I wanted to do it to. I knew it was a waiting game, though. I wanted to get my surgery done and was hoping it could be me too. I found out my original doctor went to a new clinic. I followed up with this doctor and she had an excellent assistant. With in two weeks I was approved for the surgery. Wow, I was speechless needless to say.
I started this WL jouney almost two years ago and I can not believe I will be having my gastric banding on the 22nd of December. I know the surgery is the easy part and the what comes after is the hard part. I am looking forward to it though.
I didn't ever want to give up and I didn't.
I hope slowly but surely the weight comes off.
