Update....Slowly making progress
Jan 07, 2009
I forgot to update when I received fill #5 on November 20th. That fill took me to 6.0cc's and no change in appetite or consumption; today I received .3 for a level of 6.3cc's, so hopefully something positive will happen within the next 5 weeks. I had been on vacation from everything (work, exercise, dieting) the past three weeks, but my vacation is over. I have started exercising and watching what I eat again and I'm looking forward to seeing some significant changes on the scale (not the same 2-5 lb fluctation) when I go back to the Dr. on 2/11. Sometimes I wish I would have opted for gastric bypass because I'm sure I would have been a goal by now, but I realize this way is better for me and is making me a stronger more determined individual.

Fill #4
Oct 09, 2008
I went for my 4th fill this morning, jumped on the scale and had only lost 2lbs
. I wasn't suprised, I have been at a standstill for the last 6 weeks, losing and gaining the same 2-3 lbs. Dr. Mo added .7 for a total of 5.8ccs, I hope this helps. I really need to get the scales moving again, if I want to reach my mini goal of 175 by my birthday at the end of December. I still working out every morning before I go to work so I guess I maybe losing inches
(who knows). I really need to do better with my food choices and making sure to count calories. I can still eat anything and everything...nothing seems to bother my band that I sometimes forget that I have one. I will be glad when I get restriction like I had right after surgery. Anyway my next appointment is the week before Thanksgiving which is fine with me since we currently don't have any special plans for the holiday.

3rd Fill
Aug 21, 2008
I had my 3rd fill today and it went well, Dr. Mo gave me a .6 fill for a total of 5.1cc's in my band. I have lost 6lbs since my last visit and a total of 32lbs since surgery on March 31st. Not bad, but of course I was hoping for more pounds to be gone by now. I was aiming for 10lbs a month but that hasn't happened yet. I have to keep reminding myself, that I didn't gain it all over night, so I can't expect to lose it all over night. I'm still exercising about an 1 hour a day for 4-5 days, so although the scale is not moving as fast as I would like, the inches are coming off. TTFN........
2nd fill
Jul 13, 2008
Well, I had my 2nd fill on 7/10 and he put in .5 cc's. I now have a total of 4.5 cc's in my APS band. I have lost 9 lbs since my last visit at the Drs. office. My next fill is late August at which time I hope to be well under 200 lbs. I'm still exercising atleast 4-5 days a week for an hour at a time and I think that is what is helping me lose weight because I can still eat anything I want. Waiting to see what the next 6 weeks brings.
1st Fill
May 28, 2008
It wasn't that bad, a little stick. Now I'm on liquids for two days, then soft food, etc. So I guess I will see what the next 4-6 weeks bring. I have lost 7lbs since my last visit on 4/9/08 (about 1# per week) was hoping for more, maybe today's fill will help.
1st Post-op Appt.
Apr 10, 2008
My first post-op appt. was 9 days after surgery and things are healing fine. I almost feel like myself again, but can only eat small amounts of food now
. From March 17 (pre-op) to my first post-op visit on April 9th, I have lost 17 lbs, but now the hard part is trying to keep loosing until my first fill on May 22nd.

Home and Banded
Apr 01, 2008
I arrived at the hospital at 5:30am and surgery began on time at 7:30am. Surgery took a little longer than normal since Dr. Moazzez had to repair my hiatal hernia, which meant I had too stay in the hospital overnight. I'm in a little more pain than I was expecting, but I guess that is because of the hernia repair. I have the small AP band and now I'm on full liquids for the next week, it has taken me over 2 hours to drink 8 oz of ff milk, I don't see how I can get all my protein in at this rate. I am not hungry at all and I hope this feeling can last until my first fill.
2morrow is the big day
Mar 29, 2008
2morrow I begin this journey to become a healthier me. I am looking forward to feeling better, eating less and reaching my personal goal weight. I jokingly told Dr. Moazzez to make sure he has a great weekend and sleep well since he will operate on me first thing in the morning. I have to arrive at the hospital by 5:30am, which means I need to leave home nlt 4:15am, I guess I won't get much sleep.
I feel amazingly calm about the surgery, hope I can say I feel the same 2morrow morning.

2 weeks before surgery
Mar 18, 2008
It's been a while....I was originally scheduled to have surgery December 3rd, but while doing some of my pre-op testing, we found that my left kidney was distended. This required more testing with a Urologist and ended up needing to have surgery. Thus trying to correct my kidney problems became my first priority and my lapband surgery was postponed until March 31st, less than 2 weeks. Yipee.....
I had my pre-op appointment yesterday and officially started my pre-op diet; which consists of 2 protein shakes (Breakfast & Lunch) and a protein based dinner. My surgeon required that I lose 15 lbs before surgery, I have already done that, so anything I lose now will be a bonus.

Progressing Slowly
Jul 30, 2007
I had my first appointment with the surgeon on July 16th and he fully explained the Lap Band and thought I would do well with this procedure. He did tell me that I needed to lose 15 lbs before surgery (Hope I can do this). I also met with the Nut. and she discussed all of the life style changes I will have to make and to begin now before surgery to make them a habit. I had my required Pschy. appointment - all is well. I have to meet with each one of them 2 more times before my documents can be submitted to the insurance company.
