I have an appointment w/Dr. Fuller, UC Davis, on Friday March 23rd. I'm hoping to find out some information, like when can I have surgery, I'm a candidate, will my insurance approve me. I just want it done and over with, on my way to a better healthier life for me and my family.
March 23
OH MY GOSH! So, I had my first doctors appointment with Dr. Fuller and staff. Wow, what a day. It is was a very long day, I was there from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. There is good information to be heard. Well, worth the long day.
SOOOOO.....I got my surgery date....holy crap....I was put into the 3 months catagory, so I was thinking around August, well, went I met with Judy she asked me "how soon do you want this?" my repsonse being "as soon as I can." Judy looked at me and said "how about April." What did I just hear her right, April, Jan., Feb., March., April...oh my gosh that is next month! She must be crazy. I of course said "perfect!" I had most of the requirements meet becuase my pcp made me do them be for I was even going to be referred to surgery! Wow, he saved me a lot of time! My surgery is scheduled for April 26th, I happy, exited, overwhelmed and scared! I have been talking about this but it actually coming down to it was a whole different thing! I do have to loose at least 13 pounds by April 11th, I hope I can do that, thats only 2 weeks ago, wish me luck. If anyone has any tips they would like to share with me please do! Thank you everyone!
March 26th
I received a phone call from Judy @ UC Davis. She wants to move my surgery up from April 26th to April 10th! This is the fastest process in the world! I don't even have time to process what is going on. It just happen so so fast. I can't wait! I go on Tuesday, March 27th, to finish my lab work, chest x-ray and pap. Then on March 29th, I will be going the nutrition class and have my second appointment! So far, this process has been painless.
April 10th
Wow! It has been such a busy two weeks. I have been to so many doctors! Blood work, ultrasound, chest x-ray, physical, more blood work, etc.... I have not had anytime to breath! I went the Nutrition class, they talked about what vitamins to take for the rest of your life and protien protien! It was very informative. I went the the 2nd pr-op, another very long day. In the appointment we learned what to do the day off surgery and what medication you will be taking.
My friends and family have been asking me if I nervous yet. I really have not had anytime to stop and think, I believe that being so busy has really helped me out. I'm sure I will be nervous the day of! So far so good.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND THOUGHTS!
August 29th
WOW, it has been a long time since I have updated. Surgery went perfect, no problems! Had a wonderful doc., Dr. Ali! I'm 4.5 months out and I'm down 65 pounds. It has been a wild ride.
The first week or two was the hardest. I was in pain but really not as bad as what I thought I would have. The most uncomfy thing about surgery was the bloating of the stomach, I felt and looked like I was 9 months pregnant. In fact, I went to wearing my pregnancy clothes, anything that was loose on my stomach! Once you get past those first two weeks everything was pretty much easy. I had to learn what I could and could not have to eat and had to learn portion sizes. It took me awhile and yes, many many times of getting sick to my stomach! There are still some this to this day that I will not try or try again becuase I got sick of it!
BUT........
I have a bigger issue to deal with. Like I said I'm 4.5 months out and down 65 pounds and have another 45 to go., I have gone from a size 24/26 pants down to a size 18......
I found out that I'M PREGNANT! Yes, I know you are suppose to wait.....things happen.
I'm very scared that I have ruined my chances of finishing loosing the weight! This is suppose to be a HAPPY moment in life and I'm scared!
