11 Days Out
Jul 16, 2011
It's July 1st my out helping my cousin buy a new car and I get my call. I have to be at the hospital on Tuesday, July 5th at 6am. Wow its real just 4 more days.
It's July 4th. I have never smelled more BBQ in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just 24 more hours I can do it. I didn't have to do anything special today except no eating only clear liquids all day. I made it through.
TODAY is the day. I got to the hospital at 5:45. I thought I would be nervous but I wasn't I was actually very happy. Everyone that help me get pre-op ready was very excited. Wishing me good luck. I even got hit on :) One of the nurses(?) He said you look good now, I can only imagine how much more beautiful you you will look after. OK my head if officially swollen. Yes I am doing this to look better but truthfully I need to get my health in check. They wheel me back to the operating room. The anesthesiologist comes in the room my WONDERFUL Dr. Ramsey Dallal and his PA Amanda comes in they all ask if I'm ready, and they next thing I know I'm in my room that was about 1:pm. I did have alot of pain. The morphine wasn't working at all. They switched me to percocet. Much better. I got up around 6 and took my first stroll around the nurses station 220 steps, and for the next 3 hours I did it about 6 times. I'm ready to go home. My Dr came to see me stated everything went as planned no problems, and if my blood work comes back ok tomorrow I may be able to go home. YAYYY Then Amanda (the PA) gave me the great news. She said my liver looked excellent and she doesn't say that often. She said I did a great job at sticking to the required pre-op diet.
Wednesday July 6, they bring me my breakfast. chicken broth and water and hot tea, cant get much of it down but the warm tea feels better. MY labs are back I can go home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the next few days I am drinking slowly and trying to get as much liquid in me as possible. I still have pain but it's gas i need to walk more to get it out.
Today is day 11. Wow I am feeling much better. The first few days the gas pains were unreal. WALK WALK WALK seriously. The walking help. Don't rush anything TRUST ME. I tried to rush the eating process. OH the pain. We went out to eat (I should have just stayed home!!!!) So I decided to have mash potatoes. How bad could that be?? VERY bad!!! They got stuck I was in pain for over 1 hour. Stick to what your doctors says.
I have lost about 25 pounds it feels good. In 2009 I weighed about 258 and all of that wardrobe fits again.
Now comes the dreaded part. My arms and thighs are so flabby. I am walking about 1 mile three times a week. Any suggestions. I need to tighten this fat up as I am losing. I really would hope i wouldn't need any cosmetic surgery. One can only wish.

Day 7 Pre-OP Diet
Jun 28, 2011
I am doing it. I have lost 13.2 pounds in 7 days and I have found a protein shake (Pure Protein 35 grams) that I love. I am drinking my water 64oz a day. I am so hyped. My only snag is my partner!!!! He of course is trying to be very supportive but as I am following this pre-op diet and staying on track, he is questioning why can't I keep this up and forget the surgery!!!!! I know he has my best at heart, but I want to lock him in the room until the day after my surgery. Pray for me!!!!!

Day 4 Liquid Diet - 10 days to go
Jun 24, 2011
Well I woke up this morning and my weight is down 7 pounds since I started my pre-op surgery diet. This is truly harder than not smoking. I stopped smoking 1 month ago. I just stopped. Dr stated wont do surgery if I'm smoking, so I stopped. Not going to say it was easy but had to look at the bigger pictures, but this reduced eating is tough. What's tough about it is that I'm bored with my food choices. I need some ideas for different vegetables preparations. My biggest stumbling block is making dinner for the family and not getting tempted to taste what I'm cooking. This is some kind of torture LOL. Suppose to go out to a party tomorrow, i wonder if I can get the bartender to blend my protein shake and put an umbrella in it. :)

Day 1 Pre-Op
Jun 21, 2011
Ok, so I decided I am going to take it easy today. I am a diabetic and I can already feel the effects of this liquid diet (or is it in my head).
11:00am: had a chocolate muscle milk ( i put it in the freezer so it had ice cream like texture) It was good.
1:00pm ate about 10 carrots (mini, the ones in the snack bag)
2:00pm cherry sugar free jello
It's now 4:30 and I am hungry I guess I'll have another shake. The pre-op diet is 800 calories with vegetable and protein shakes, sugar free jello, Popsicles and ices. It's a bit of a struggle but I stopped smoking 4 weeks ago cold turkey, I CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!
I am on my way to the supermarket, I need more vegetables, trying to get creative with what I can eat. Salsa on broccoli?????
I'll let you know what I ended up making for dinner.
