One month post op.
Apr 22, 2008
4/22/08 Had my one month appt with my dietitian today. She states that I am doing great. Right on target with my weight loss. I have lost 10 lbs since my surgery on 3/24/08. I am now advanced to eating foods listed on the Phase IV diet plan. Real food. Small amounts. I can even have my favorite Greek salad with grilled chicken!!! I have lost a total of 33 lbs since I entered the bariatric program last July. I am noticing my clothes getting looser. Getting out and walking more now that the snow is finally gone!!! :) 245 lbs this morning and counting...
Feeling great. Off my bp meds since the day of my surgery.
My surgeon's appt is scheduled for April 30th.
Take care everyone and for anyone just starting on this journey - don't hesitate to go through with this as it truly will be the best decision of your life!!!
Bye for now,
Denise

Well I am doing fabulous! Almost doesn't feel like I had anything done.
Eating good foods. My dietitian already advanced me to Phase III foods since I was doing so well. Walking the malls. (Great place to walk.)
I am now the "thinnest" that I have been in 15 1/2 yrs!!! & loving it!!!
Seafood salad with lite mayo is my new favorite food!!! Along with chili and 1% cottage cheese.
I bought myself a 1x today (down from a 3x) and it fit although a bit snugly. However soon it will become loose. Just wanted something new and bright to wear on my "way down"!!! LOL
I thank God that I have done so well.
I thank God also for all of the supportive friends that I have had along the way.
I have never been so happy. Feel like I have been released from a prison that I have been in for 50 yrs.
Take care everyone!
Fondly,
Denise
Surgery's over!

My RNY operation well well. No complications. Dr. Gould and all of the staff at the Elliot Hospital were wonderful. I do confess I was getting used to the pampering!!! LOL
My surgery was done at 7:30 AM on 3/24 (Monday). I was in my room by 1pm. I got up to walk that evening. Did a couple of laps round the nurses desk my first time up.
Didn't use my PCA pain medication pump that often.
Not that much pain experienced.
Got discharged on Wed afternoon.
Now I am at home recuperating. Starting to track my fluid and protein intake.
I have my post op appointments scheduled.
For those of you "on the fence" - just do it. You will be so very glad that you did.
If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Will provide periodic updates to this site as things change.
Thanks for all of your support along the way.
Denise

Well last Sunday I developed a swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck. It has taken me until today to get antibiotics. 7 days worth I have taken 2 doses today and hope it will resolve before my surgery date.
A cyber friend, Kim had this very thing happen and her surgery had to be cancelled. So I hope I caught this and got antibiotics in time.
Will keep you posted.
11 days until my "rebirth"!!! LOL

I started Phase II diet plan today. I have to be on this for 2 weeks prior to my surgery. Not a lot of variation but I am getting by! :)
Things are moving quickly now.
Will be glad to have the surgery and be on the recuperation end.
Looking forward to my journey!

Denise

So it's now full speed ahead and boy am I ready!!!
Will keep you posted on how I am doing as my journey continues.

Bump in the road
Feb 14, 2008
2/14/08 Just wanted to say that I had an ekg done at my Surgeon's appt and it showed a slight abnormality. I now have to have a Stress Echo done on 2/27 to make sure that nothing sinister is occurring. So I will know after that test is read whether or not my surgery date is still on. So when you read this message, please pause and say a prayer for me.
What will be, will be. I want the surgery to be safe for me so if something needs to be addressed I am glad that it will be at this time.
No matter when my surgery takes place (I already have been approved,) I will be ready for my new journey towards the "new me".
Thanks for all of your support along the way!
Fondly,
Denise

It's a ways away but more time to shed a few more pounds.
My surgery will be done at the Elliot Hospital.
it's almost surreal that this is finally happening to me. Especially after so much anguish over my weight all of my life.
Keep in touch everyone!
My best to you all.

Denise
Meeting with my surgeon.
Jan 31, 2008
1/31/08
Hi everyone! I just had a meeting with my surgeon today!!! I needed to have kept off 10 lbs and I was down 14lbs. So I have now progressed to getting scheduled for surgery!!! I will know my surgery date sometime next week. He is going on vacation the end of Feb so I was hoping I could have my surgery before he goes. I even told him that he couldn't go on his vacation until I had my surgery!!! He laughed. So will wait a bit more until I know for sure and when I do I will share it with all of you!
Until then - take care,
Denise
