I am about to turn 39 yrs old, the wife of a U.S. Army soldier and mother of 3 daughters (11, 13 & 16). I was a professional dancer and athlete throughout middle school and high school. I began gaining weight gradually in high school as genetics (I'm Irish, lol) kicked in and I started filling in...and in.. and in. With the training and exercise I maintained a healthy weight until multiple injuries forced me to stop dancing and playing soccer for a year. A combination of depression, injuries and 3 high risk pregnancies have taken their toll on my body. Two and a half years ago, I lost the rest of the weight I gained with my last child while on best rest from 16 weeks on. After becoming an Army wife and spending the first year of our Army life in the Arctic Interior at Ft Wainwright, AK, I gained all of that weight back plus a few pounds. I am now heavier than I have ever been in my life and sicker and more "accident prone" than ever as well. So here I am...back at the beginning of the arduous journey of losing the 100+ pounds I have gained through childbearing, injury and illness over the past 20 years. I have a tentative surgery date of Sept 2 (a mere 5 weeks away). I am both excited and terrified. I think that is healthy though. Why am I doing this? Well... I want to live long enough to meet my future grandkids, the energy to keep up with my kids and the life I have planned, the confidence to catch up to my dreams and the strength inside and out to be the woman I know I can be. I WILL dance, sing, tumble, fly, horseback ride, complete my education and have my outside match my insides...
Today is a new day and it is my turn to fly
